  1. Hi. Is there a tweak to increase the level of transparency in windows 10 with aero glass, or is what we get when we install aero glass the maximum that can be achieved? Thx.
  2. Hi aviv00. I haven't gotten around to using this yet, however, I am looking into it now. I have attached a screen, where for example, there are a number of items that are similar in name: amd64_microsoft-hyper-v-drivers-hypervisor_31bf3856ad364e35_6.2.9200.16384_none_891afac5ef497dae amd64_microsoft-hyper-v-drivers-hypervisor_31bf3856ad364e35_6.2.9200.16433_none_89500bfdef21d5c9 amd64_microsoft-hyper-v-drivers-hypervisor_31bf3856ad364e35_6.2.9200.16548_none_894a3f69ef256d94 amd64_microsoft-hyper-v-drivers-hypervisor_31bf3856ad364e35_6.2.9200.16579_none_892acfefef3cdabe amd64_microsoft-hyper-v-drivers-hypervisor_31bf3856ad364e35_6.2.9200.16628_none_895fe127ef1532d9 amd64_microsoft-hyper-v-drivers-hypervisor_31bf3856ad364e35_6.2.9200.20534_none_89daa913083e8eea amd64_microsoft-hyper-v-drivers-hypervisor_31bf3856ad364e35_6.2.9200.20534_none_89daa913083e8eea amd64_microsoft-hyper-v-drivers-hypervisor_31bf3856ad364e35_6.2.9200.20683_none_89a39b130867fe6f amd64_microsoft-hyper-v-drivers-hypervisor_31bf3856ad364e35_6.2.9200.20733_none_89d9ac95083f6fe1 They are identical as far as: amd64_microsoft-hyper-v-drivers-hypervisor_31bf3856ad364e35_6.2.9200.**** Does that mean I can delete all but one? If yes, which one should I delete? Do I leave the file/directory with the highest version? Or should I delete all but one copy of: amd64_microsoft-hyper-v-drivers-hypervisor_31bf3856ad364e35_6.2.9200.16* And then delete all but one copy of: amd64_microsoft-hyper-v-drivers-hypervisor_31bf3856ad364e35_6.2.9200.20* Any help would be appreciated. I don't see any exact identical copies, but a lot of files that are very similar like above. Thx. theKramer
  3. Hi all. Not sure if there is a solution for this, but I have found when integrating updates via dism into my Windows 8 DVD that the install.wim grows surprisingly large. Does anyone know a way to prevent this? Windows 7 never grew this large. Is it possible that DISM is not as efficient in W8 as imagex was in W7? Thx. theKramer
  4. Hi all. Is this making anyone elses screen go completely black? 0.8 worked fine, but 0.9.x versions make my screen go completely black for at least 5 to 10 minutes.... My vid card is an nvidia 8400GS. My board is a UEFI board, but dont think secure boot is an issue as v0.8 worked ok previously, and havent changed anything in BIOS since. Is there any other info I can post to help troubleshoot this issue. Thx
  5. When I try v0.91, my whole screen goes black for between 5 and 10 minutes. The previous error has been resolved for me, regarding the "occlusion rectangles".
  6. Sorry if this has been asked before, but how do I update the DWMGlass.dll file as its locked? Do I have to reboot into safe mode?
  7. Hi aviv00. I just have a couple of questions. I sysprepped an image where I installed all the latest updates for Windows 8. 1. I dont see a backup folder in the winSXS directory. Am I doing something wrong there? I ran disk cleanup before Sysprep and that cleaned the cache, so could that have removed the backup directory also?? 2. In point 5, above you talk about running *.* in dirs IME and Speech. Does that mean running a search in those folders? Can you explain explain nr5 in more detail, as I dont understand what you mean by "add the files to user list and search from there to whole clg" Your help would be much appreciated :-) Thx.
  8. Try this step-by-step guide: www.winreducer.net/forum.html --> Tutorials --> Slimming down windows 7 I got it to work at first, but now can't get vlite to work anymore :-( P.S. Be sure not 2 use sysprep more than twice without an unattended XML file, otherwise it messes with activation. P.S.2. I will be writing a full guide in the new yr on that forum about using sysprep and liting that sysprepped image after.
  9. In the Unattended section, you will see a button called "Add another user".
  10. Thx for the input guys. I have taken your suggestions on board. I have changed the oobesystem pass to use the default admin account. I still cannot get it to go past the generalize pass tho Unattend.xml
  11. Hi all. I get an error in the [generalize] pass when I try to use Sysprep with my unattend.xml file. File is attached to this post. Can anyone help me to find the issue? Unattend.xml
  12. Hi msfnco. When you remove anything in RT7Lite, it is completely removed. You cannot add it back in. As billybully so eloquently put it, you will have to redo your iso again Also, the best thing to do is to download VirtuaBox, which is free virtual machine software, so you can install your lited OS to that and test, before going through all the hassle of formatting, reinstalling, etc... on your main hard drive!! Believe me, it is a lifesaver :-)
  13. Hi msfnco. When you remove anything in RT7Lite, it is completely removed. You cannot add it back in. As billybully so eloquently put it, you will have to redo your iso again
  14. Hi Winter. In the meantime, could you re-upload 5.03 without the "Apps" folder as I already have those files from version 5.02. Pretty please :-)
  15. Anyone know of any other files that should be kept for other applications?
  16. Hi all. I want to use VPN software (VPN4all) on my lited windows installation, but something I removed is preventing it from working correctly. Basically the software cannot connect to a server in another country. I have tried VPN4all in a non-lited installation on the same system and it works ok, so its definitely something to do with something I removed with RT7lite. Any help appreciated. 17. Well, this in a virtual machine, so its not that critical an issue if I f*** up... I see in the liting windows 8 thread, files that are mentioned for deletion, but wondering if the same files can be deleted in windows 7...
  18. You need WAIK for windows 7 for this, so you need at least Vista to use RT7lite
  19. Hi. I have a sysprepped windows 7 image with the latest updates applied. Can anyone tell me, what files are safe to delete from the winsxs directory of that image mounted using the Whereisit application?? I would like to maintain update-ability... Thx.
  20. Strange, because when I added back in the Microsoft driver in Storage Controllers, I was able to add VHD's. Maybe with my lastsession, it causes that issue to occur, coz I have removed other stuff... Anyway, here is my "working" lastsession: [OS Name= Windows 7 HOMEPREMIUM] [Date= 9/23/2012 4:01:26 PM] [Microsoft .NET FrameWork= 3.5] [Version: Release Candidate 1.7.0] [Update] [Driver] [Language] [Application] [Components] Ease of Access Center=True Action Center=True Aero Cursors=True Clear Type Tuner=True Default Computer Program Access=True Diagnostics Troubleshooting Wizard=True Disk CleanUp=True InboxGames=True Chess=True FreeCell=True Hearts=True Shanghai=True Minesweeper=True More Games=True Internet Games=True Internet Backgammon=True Internet Checkers=True Internet Spades=True PurblePlace=True Solitaire=True SpiderSolitaire=True Infrared File Transfer Application=True Mobility Center=True On-Screen Magnifier=True People Near Me=True Projector Connectivity=True Speech Recognition=True Sticky Notes=True Welcome Center=True Windows Contacts=True FaxServicesClientPackage=True Windows Repair Disc=True WindowsGadgetPlatform=True WindowsSideShow=True Wordpad=True Write=True 1394 Driver=True D_ATI Technologies=True D_Intel Corporation=True D_NVIDIA=True Creative Technology=True 1394 Desktop Camera=True M_AFA Technologies=True M_ATI Technologies=True M_Aver Media Technologies=True M_Conexant=True M_Hauppauge=True IEEE 1394 DV Camera=True M_IEEE 1394 Tape Subunit Devices=True M_Luminate-Angel Devices=True M_ViXS=True M_Windows SideShow Driver=True Modem=True MO_Agere Systems=True MO_AIWA=True MO_Anchor Datacom BV=True MO_Archtek Telecom=True MO_ARN=True MO_Askey and Cardinal=True MO_ATI Technologies=True MO_Banksia,Meastro=True MO_Boca Research=True MO_Brother=True MO_BSB Datentechnik=True MO_Compaq=True MO_Conexant=True MO_Creative Labs=True MO_Creatix Polymedia=True MO_CPV-Stollmann Datensysteme=True MO_Digicom=True MO_Dynalinks and Todos=True MO_Eiger Labs=True MO_E-Tech=True MO_ELSA=True MO_Fujtisu=True MO_Gateway 2000=True MO_GSM Cellular=True MO_Haeussler DK & NO=True MO_Hayes Accura=True MO_Hayes=True MO_Hot Line Export AB=True MO_I-O DATA DEVICE=True MO_Infotel=True MO_Intertex=True MO_Ke Kommunikations Elektronic=True MO_KORTEX=True MO_LASAT COMMUNICATIONS=True MO_Lucent=True MO_Megasoft=True MO_Megahertz Corporation=True MO_Metricom=True MO_Microcom=True MO_MICRO Research=True MO_Motorola=True MO_Modular Technology=True MO_Multitech Systems=True MO_NEC=True MO_Neuhaus Telekommunikation=True MO_NISSEI=True MO_Nokia=True MO_Novalink Technologies=True MO_NTT Docomo=True MO_OLITEC=True MO_OMRON=True MO_OPTION International=True MO_Ositech Communications=True MO_Pace=True MO_Panasonic=True MO_Penril Datability Networks=True MO_Practical Peripherals=True MO_Psion Dacom=True MO_Racal-Airtech=True MO_Rockwell & Cirrus=True MO_Sierra Semiconductor=True MO_SONY=True MO_Sony Ericsson=True MO_Sony Ericsson and Motorola-Bluetooth Modem=True MO_Standard Modem Drivers=True MO_Suntac=True MO_Supra Corporation=True MO_TDK Corporation=True MO_TOSHIBA=True MO_Texas Instrument=True MO_TKR=True MO_TRON B.V. 21. Yeah, posted too early on that. It seems that removing the Microsoft driver from "Storage Controllers" section within Drivers section is the root cause of the error that I receive, not MSDSM. Can you guys check if removing the driver causes the same problem for you? @billybully: I didnt touch MMC, coz when I do, I get this additional MMC.exe window asking me to select between 32-bit or 64-bit components for MMC, that I dont get if I leave everything in MMC. Do you get that "popup" when you remove the items your mention in your orginal post?
  22. Found an issue: Removing the "Microsoft MSDSM" component in the "System" section of "Accessories" breaks disk management It was selected for removal in Winterstorm2050's most recent "lastsession.ini".
  23. Are you going to port your threads that were on that site to here? I hope you backed them up
