I am getting popup adds on my desktop even when I am not browsing. I have a full time DSL connection. I have determined that the program these people are using is "csrss.exe" and its in my c:\windows\system32 directory. My proble is I can seem to delete the exe file,I get a "disk full/acess refused"warning from windows. Also I think it is using a program called Microsft Console Based Script Host which I cant delete either. How can i get rid if these files? I when "safe mode" and I still counldnt delete the files. Do you think I have to get into my registry? Thanks

Hi, I have a new 1.8 Intel computer on a DSL line.I am using IE v.6.02800. Also I am using XP Home Edition. A couple weeks ago my IE started hanging. I log on and surf just fine ,but 1/2 the time if I go to a link it will just lock up and per "Task Manager" it stops respondind. Sometimes its the page I went to or the original IE screen per task manager.Either way I have to completely out of IE and sart over. It is really driving me crazy. I was using a Popup Ad program but it does it whether i use it or not. Help.I cant do anything online. Brad Seattle

Hi, I am doing a presentation and I have found the perfect cover letter with an icon I would like to use. I am using Printmaster Preimer. Here is my problem. After I make my cover sheet the page seems to have a *.let extension.I know the icon has a *.wmf extension origanally.I used the properties option in the PP program to see the file extension. I think that is some kind of Microsoft file. Anyway I can't move the page with the icon into my Word 2000 program.I want to then type all my presentation into onto this page with the icon in th upper right corner. But Word 200 doesn't recognize it. Can someone help me with all these extensions and different formats. How do I convert one format to another. And what is a *.wmf and what is a *.let. As you can see I can use a word program but icons and images are somewhat new to me. Any help wold be great. Thanks Brad Seattle

Rajamafaja! But I cant change ANY folders on my hard drive to non read-only. I am trying to use Microsofts Bootvis program. It tracks your bootup process. It is written by Microsoft and it wants the "program files" folder to be writeable on bootup. I got the program from the Microsoft site.It even XP certified.

O.K. So its naturally read only. So you cant say why it will not stay writeable? I can't change other folders to write. I am really not doing anything complicated. It must be some setting with XP. Thanks anyway. Brad

Hi, I am trying to change my "Program Files" file from read only to readable(write to). I go through the steps and watch the whole file re-do the attributes,but then when I close the file and reopen it,its again in a read only state. I want to use the sharing function and I also want to use a small bootup program but the program says it needs to have this file readable.Or I guess you could say writeable. Any ideas. Thanks Brad

Hi, I changed internet providers and I have a small problem. I use W98 and IE5. I deleted the old network connection in the Network Neighborhood and built a new connection. The problem I have is when I open the IE5 and the "dialer" with the name and passwork pop up it has 2 phone numbers in the dialing area.So it dials all the numbers there and I can't connect. I have gone to the setup area in control panel "Internet" and typed in the right (new) number but when the explorer tries to dial it sees the old number and the new number all in the same line. The way I have to get online is go to Start>Programs>Accessories>Communication then open the dialer delete the old number ,get on line then open the Explorer. Can someone help me here. Thanks, Brad

No. I think it is some where in the original administrative screen. I dont get that any more on boot up. How do I add useres and then as an administrator protect my user profile.

Hi, I have a Western Digital 80 gig hd divided into 3 partitions. A few weeks ago I started getting a blue screen on XP startup that says I need to check my drives for "consistency". After my XP then runs through some kind of check it boots fine and I have no problem. What is an in-consistent disk? How do I check this? Is it a real problem? I am using my video camera to capture some avi files. Here is my question. What is the difference between Legacy video drivers and the driver that my capture software seems to use?(Conexant BtPCI WDM video capture) I replaced my standard Hauppage vfw driver with a newer wdm driver and lost the use of my Haupagge Tv card.I am able to capture video a little better I think ,but I would like to switch between the vfw and the wdm driver to watch tv. Why cant I use the legacy vfw driver with the Haupagge card and/or how do I install and switch between two drivers that are "not" the legacy driver. As you can see I am somewhat confused. Hi, I lost the use of my printer the other day. I determined that the problem is with the USB port. Here is what it says in the hardware section: Sis 7001 USB Open Host Controller twice then, Unknow Device then USB Root Hub twice. It seems like my usb port is not working and my XP wont talk to my printer. What can I do now? I dont understand why the line "Unknow Device" would be added. I have the latest drivers for my Lexmark X73 printer and it has been working great for months now. Thanks,Brad

Thanks, From what I can tell its the Asus capture driver looking for the capture port on my Asus Ti200 card. This card sucks. There was /is no XP support. I have had to worked like heck to get the drivers for this card so I can use all the options.

I am getting a "OtherDevice"--"unknown device" alert with the yellow question mark in the device manager. I cant figure out what hardware it is seeing .All my hardware seems to work. How do I determine what it is seeing? Thanks

I need some help understanding video driver use by XP. I am starting to do Digital Video capture using my camera and a Haupagge capture card. I also use various capture and edit software. I have lost the use of my Haupagge TV mode because I downloaded a new video/audio driver. ConexantBtPCI WDM audio/video driver.It works better than the Haupagge driver.I redownloaded and installed the Haupagge driver but it didnt work or install or if it did I dont recognize it. Now I cant figure out how to change back and forth so I can do a good job of capturing then use my TV tuner. Can someone explane what a Legacy video/audio driver is also what a video/audio codec is? I know this is a big question and if its too big can someone direct me to a resorce that might help?
