Hi, I am using Outlook Express and one of my newsgroup subscriptions is red. I don't know what that means, and I don't know how I set it that way. The HELP section doesn't help either. How do I turn it off,and what does it do? Thanks, Brad

Hi, Hi, I have an Asus V8200 Ti200 Geforce3 Deluxe video card. After I spend a boat load of money for it I realized after much hassle that the software was not XP compient.I finaly got some XP driver from Asus and am using some of the option of the card. One thing I can get working is the S-Video input.I have a video camera and I want to do some simple capture using XP MovieMaker. But the s-video port seems not to be active. Can someone give me an idea about how to proceed.

Sorry ,but I think I have asked this before. I reformated and came across the same problem. When I go to explorer ,my file view defaults to "tiles" and I want every screen to be in "list" mode. Can you tell me how to change this? Thanks

Maybe my question was too expansive to ask. But,can you just answer this one simple question. ASPI stands for Advanced SCSI Programming Interface. Why the heck do you need it if I have no SCSI device in my computer? I am runnig IDE devices. THat is my primary confusion.

Hi, I am using XP home version. I have been having error problems with some of my cd burning programs regarding the "ASPI layer". Can someone tell me ,in newbie terms, what it is,how it works, and do I really need it. Where do I check the version of my ASPI? And what version should I use?If I even need it. Thanks,I opened the IE properties and did the max. thing. I get a 1/4 window now. That is what I got before I reinstalled my OS> I guess you dont get a full screen window. Thanks again, Brad

This is a little hard to explain. When I click on a link in Internet Explorer or a shortcut Explorer icon on my desktop. It comes up as a small 1" square screen. I want them to come up as full screens. Where do I find this option? Thanks

Sorry Blackwar. I went to the Bootdisk.com and was totaly confused. I downloaded and installed a bootdisk (A) for W98 and I was able to boot to it,but from there all I got was things I dont know how to use,and was unable to get to a C: prompt to type in Fdisk. I am not understanding the concept. Do the boot disk have a version of dos on them? I have an old copy of W95 and could not figure out how to get to a C: prompt. Does the "lite" version of XP fdisk work just as good. As you can see I need a little more help just getting to a C prompt. I do see that the coustom boot disks have a load of tools that with some learning would be helpful. If I can get past first base I want to learn more about these disks. I am not a total beginer,I built my nachine but I am in the dark in this area. Brad

I am getting lousy benchmark scores and I made my O.S. partition way to small. How do I reformat my whole drive. It has 3 partitions and I am using XP Home Edition OEM> Thanks, Brad

What the heck is CACK?

I defraged my o.s. drive the other day. I was wondering about the final report. After the defrag. it said it still had 27%total fragmentation and file fragmentation was 46%. I go back through the process and it says I need to defrag. ,I do, it says its completed, showes me this fragmentation and says again it need to be defraged. Any ideas why I am trapped in this loop. Or why it wont defrag. 100%. Thanks Brad

Hi, I have been running a program called 3DMark from MadOnion.com lately,and am getting a way low score for my computer. Asus Mobo P4S333 Asus Ti 200 G3 video 512 megs ddr ram I even tweeked things faster and I am only getting 3/4 of the speed I should easly get from my system. My O.S. drive is very full,like 4/5th full. Someone said this might slow things and also I might have installed the MoBo drivers wrong. Now after all that I want to reformat my H.D. What is a good procedure to save only information I need. I would like to know where all my Outlook Express information like email addresses and saved emails are located.And where all my saved Internet Explorer sites are saved. Is there a simple process for saving things generaly used before a full reformat. Thanks,Brad

I did disable the XP firewall. I can play Nascar online all day long no problem but if I try to do Medal of Honor Allied Assault through Gamespy it goes to the game on my hard drive then times out because it says it cant connect. I'm starting to think it is not because I have a router IP address and a DMZ IP address on my machine. It must be the ports. Here is what is really confusing though. I though when you set DMZ "all" your port were open then. So if that is the problem then I really have no idea. One other thing is I want to use some of the other options with windows Messenger and again it says Im behind a fire wall. I am not.

Hi, I have a Linksys 8 port router with 3 computers on it. The LAN works great. My problem is I cant seem to get out to the internet on some gaming networks and some options of "Windows Messenger". One example is when I enable "Gamespy" gaming network the first screen says I am behind a firewall and I might have problems.Then I can seem to hook up for a multi-player game. I have my XP firewall disabled and my particular computer in "DMZ" mode. Do you think this might have something to do with the router having one address and my computer having another. Or is it because my DSL service might not have assigned me a static IP. This is all a little new to me.I'm just starting to learn about networking. Thanks, Brad

Thanks I was trying to delete a drop down entry in a couple of programs and they would not delete. Maybe in others they do delete. But you guys answered my question.

How do I edit the information in the little drop-down boxes that come on when you want to enter information like address and email into a form.They are used to speed up your entrys so you don't have to type everthing. Thanks,Brad

a person installs one new oem copy of Windows XP Home Edition on their computer with the online registration completed then gives it to a friend and they try to install the same copy on their computer?
