  8. Hey guys I really need some help with this becouse it's driving me crazy! I have a few minor irriations with my windows installation and i think it's virus/trojan related but i've used 4 programs to scan for it: MicrosoftAntiSpywareInstall Ad-Aware SE Professional v1.05 Spybot Search and Destroy v1.3 Xoftspy 4.06 They've all found crap and removed it, and I've used Symantec Antivirus corporate 8.1.1 and the trend microsystem online scan also they've found and removed stuff from time to time but I always with a few days between keep getting a few files re-appearing. The first is:" testfile" that's it, no file type just "testfile" and it takes up zero space. so i delete it only to find it there a few days later. That file appears in the root folder of my E:\ drive. and another strange file is freqreg.dat , I don't remember the file size but this one appears in the d:\downloads\ folder where i have everything dc++ downloads stored. I Have no idea whats making these files re-appear all the time. And another wierd thing is the process "csrsss.exe" which take up at current writing: 11mb ram and about 20% CPU usage. I can't figure that out either. If you know anything please tell me.
  9. my 3rd harddrive e: has a folder named: MSOCache the drive is a primary partition with no system files on it, no windows. i just have it as a storage drive for tv episodes. but from tim to time windows creates a folder named MSOCache with compressed cab files inside, whats the point with this folder, and is it really safe to delete?
  10. it seem that if i have a DE ATA controller card from promise i should only have them connected to that card if they're formatted with it, under say winxp but if i later move those drives to another controller card under win2k this time then the drive starts having problems, this has happened to me a few times now, should i only have a hdd thats formatted in a system kept in that system unless reformated later in a newer system? partition magic 8 has had problems when ive done this, and windows has several times done inconsistency checks (and deleted) countless gigs. any experience in this matter?
  11. that is the chipset, you should by my opinion buy some variant of the Asus P4P800, it's the best mobo I've had the pleasure of building with.
  12. My current network config at home is that my computer is the gateway, it has 2 NIC's , 1 connected to my adsl modem, and 2 connected to my swich. all other computer/xbox and such are connected to that switch. I have it like this so that my computer has unlimited connection to the internet, ftp server, dc++ active search, web server and VNC server. VNC is very important to me. my other computer also has vnc (the computer connected to the switch) which i can't connect to if im at, say at a friends place. I have to connect to my gateway pc, and from there connect to the internal lan computer. is this possible to fix? What benefits/problems would a broadband router give me? and what brand should i buy? P.s. i live in sweden and have Telia as my ISP
  13. The computer store i work in sell these: Grandtec Grand Game Mate "Video to VGA converter with y.cb.cr input and y.pb.pr output" It seems good but i haven't tried it. So there is atleast one product that meet your needs =)
  14. This is wierd, I am running windows 2000sp4, and i installed a Promis ultra100 TX2 on o ne pci slot, in windows i installed the "1_Ultra 133_100 tx2 driver_b42" driver. I have one nec 2500 connected to ide 1 as master and i have 1 160gb samsung connected as cable select on ide 2 when i moved a 700mb file from my C: (mobo's pri master , alone) to the samsung drive the CPU indicated by the taskmanager went up to some 50-80 % during the copying. thats high! when i copyed the same file from C: to C: it only went up to like 20- 40 at most. when i tried burning a DVD with nero the CPU went up to 100% and the whole computer started lagging like hell, i couldnt play winamp or even move the mouse cursor properly. So, i updated the Promis ultra100 TX2 Bios from version 220014 to 220015 without any change in performance. Do any of you readers know why its clogging up all of the system?
  15. This is more detailed info on the current health of the system. btw, i thought this might be a tad too high but i guess not, anyways the question still remains, why cant i choose clock speed? and oh, i cant go below 10 in the multiplier or the computer wont boot.
  16. hey all thanks for all your help! I set the vcore at 1.7v I set the Dimm at 2.8v I set the MP at 11.0 And the FSB at 200 i have this feature on my soltek mainboard, at first it was set as optimal but i highered it to agressive (i changed some values for the ram) These settings put the cpu at 3200+, while this is fine and it finished super pi in record 49sec time compared to 55 before, it really runs stable and faster. My question is, how do i lower the overclock? i still haven't managed to clock it to any other speeds than 3200+, say 3000+
  17. Is it true a computer case made completely out of plexi glass would be better for heat decipation?
  18. This is what i did to fix (atleast its been 16 hours now) the problem. I switched cables with the NIC's.
  19. i've had win2k installed for 2 days now and all is well except for the network cards, both of them after about an hour they shut down. here i am sitting surfing, downloading and walla! disconnected from dc++, miranda goes offline, digitally imported winamp radio goes offline, even my lan connection to my other comps goes offline, and i have to reboot. why? any of you experienced and solved this?
  20. the fan is as said earlier an arctic cooling copper, it can cool 3200+ the ram can't handle it? i don't know. but it couldn't finish a pi calculation. the cooling is sufficient, right? in addition i have another 80mm chassis fan sucking out the air right where the cpu is located.
  21. no, none. i bought the cpu yesterday. btw, the cooling is an arctic cooling copper fan
  22. i am running the latest version of windows 2000sp4 all updates and such, but i cant recognize this process imad.exe, what is it? i found very little on a google search
  23. I have a Soltek SL-75FRN2-nforce2 mainboard with twinmos 400mHz ddr ram and the amd barton 2500+ how do i clock it to something around the 2800+ - 3000+ range? i tried yesterday by changing the FSB to200 but then i set the cpu at 3200+ and i lowered it to 166 now running at 2500+ i changed the cpu multiplier to like 5.0 and it set the cpu to 3200, I then changed the cpu multiplier to 11.5 and still 3200+ anyone know how to help? the bios is from the late november of 2003 (28th i think) and the reason why i dont just set it at 3200+ is becouse my ram isn't good enough for it, i tried the program super pi in windows which couldn't finnish the test.
