  1. hey ive got a rather crappy computer running XP sp1 with 2 NIC's one for the internet via adsl telia here in sweden. the other NIC is supposed to connect my laptop to the crappy xp sp1 machine using a crossover lan cable. my laptop has win2k and has no problem accepting an internet connection sharing from any other network i connect it to, it has no problem getting a dhcp ip adress and no lan problems what-so-ever. how do i enable internet connection sharing in winxp? it's easy on win2k and always works but i find the lan managment in xp to be very crappy. what services has to be enabled in win xp, what setting, in what order and why wont the second nic get assigned a valid ip by the first nic? its always something along the lines of: 169..... and the repair button as always never works...
  2. scratch that, thank you it helped.
  3. why did they do that? so what do you think coused my old ram to become physicly damaged last time i clocked the pc?
  4. there are no settings what so ever for IPX and i have tried creating my own rule and using allow any protocol at both directions for all program but it will not work. btw, im using kerio v2 something not the v4, i heard it sucked...
  5. That was helpful, thanks. another thing, how do you change the 4 standard shortcuts in those Open dialog windows?
  6. Help me I'm trying to run warcraft 2 using IPX networking I can't get it to allow IPX There's no pre settings for that I got this response from a friend, tho in the end he couldn't help me: Kerio, as do other desktop firewalls, manages IP-Networking, ie TCP/UDP/ICMP, and not IPX! you have to enable IPX in your network configuration ALL desktop firewall hang themselves onto the Windows TCP/IP stack! und not IPX! ==> there is basically no control! so everything should be allowed does your internet provider use IPX capable connections?? Does your switch / router support IPX?? NOW: I would say my 3com switch supports IPX since the other 2 computers in my network can play warcraft 2 without problems and neither one of them has Kerio. I suppose i have to reboot after i disable the firewall since it does nothing to help, but i feel uncomfortable disabling the firewall.
  7. about my last question, does anyone have an answer? it seems I can't higher or lower the speed beyond the original 2500+ or overclocked mode 3200+ further more, I had to buy new ram 6 months ago since the older ones developed problems. I had memory diagnostic programs find errors in the ram, programs and games where very unstable in windows.
  8. i don't understand. ok i need to modify a explorer link but in what field do i enter what commands? say i wanted it to simply expand the drives not everything.
  9. How do i set explorer to auto expand tree listing for the drives? and how do i change these:
  10. I cannot launch .msi files using windows explorer, it claims nothing is assigned to the .msi. Yet in folder options it is assigned as it should be. Using Total Commander to launch the .msi installer i have no problem what so ever. What windows 2000 services are bound to the funcion of this? How do i reset / reinstall support for .msi?
  11. Whenever i start explorer my documents in the tree list is by default expanded whilst the hardddrives are not, is there a way to reverse this default setting? also, for some wierd reason my documents is now shown at the bottom of the tree list instead of above the "my computer" icon, why is this? can i change back its position?
  12. Seems i was able to solve the problem going to maxtors homepage and downloading this: big drive enabler.exe once installed win had no problems finding the entire drive. and about that cmos error thingie, i've never had it since the first reboot upon flashing. I called the techie guys at ASUS and they didn't know why it said that when infact eveything is working as it should. anyways, thank you for your help!
  13. i have this file EVE_Client.exe which i can't delete, windows says it's in use. now, ive tried deleting it in Fail safe but says the same thing there, i've even tried adding the hdd as a slave drive in another computer, booting up that pc and tried to delete the file, that windows said the same thing, is there anyway short of formatting to delete this goddam file? btw, the file takes up 0 bytes. Is there any utility or program to tell a user what is using a file when getting a message like this?
  14. I have just installed a maxtor 250gb sata disk, already i have a few 160gb IDE disks working perfecly. but just now when i booted up win2k sp4 it only found 128 on the sata disk, why's that? I have a fairly new BIOS to, and anyways if it can handle 160gb disks of IDE why not sata? yeah i just updated my bios using asus updater for updating the bios to the latest verion, the asus updater updates , by downloading a bios from the net and then updating the bios in windows then it asks to reboot and upon that in dos i get a message "cmos checksum bad" and i hit F1 do some settings and boot into windows. now the asus updater says im using the latest version of the bios now. but what does "cmos checksum bad" ?? and i still cant format the disk to more than 128gb. in the bios it says the size of the hdd is 251gb so whats wrong with windows?
  15. Hi, I've tried to register a few programs and games on my SE p910i. After installing the program I'm supposed to register to full version with "just replace this .app" over the original file. I don't know what they mean by that, for example this: i install this: soldierants.sis then im supposed to replace some file in the phone with: SoldierAnts.app i cant just drag it to the phone, something about filetype not accepted. and i did a search in the phone for that file using explorer4u without finding it.
  16. please help me identify and remove some.crap if any. 21. I have several usb and firewire devides which I connect and disconnect frequently. The Warning message I get everytime when disconnecting would be nice to be without. I do eject the devides in windows before I disconnect them but still I get the warning message. As shown below in swedish unfortunately.
