Well, I really don't know, but presumably win32ss does! Surely the current ESR version has to be patched until it's superseded, if it's vulnerable, or there's no point in having it. That is 132 as far as I'm aware.1 point

For more recent androids it is probably better to disable them rather than try to uninstall, which might not even be possible anymore. At least if something goes wrong it is easy enough to re-enable them if needed. Microsoft never seems to pass up the opportunity to push a new incompatible prorietary (non)standard. They are the ones that made the Windows implementations so horribly useless. They could have just made it a slightly modified (to deal with Android file system interfaces) version of an explorer window - but noooo, they had to insert Media Player into the middle of what should be a simple copy-paste function, with no filtering needed or wanted. Yup. . . if Google can't force you to do this, how are they going to be able to snoop through all your files and build their advertising profile on you? It might have made more sense if they did not make it so difficult to choose a cloud server that YOU own or control. (There are apps for this on both android and windows sides so it is possible to roll your own at home if you want to.) And yeah, if you are going to bother uploading it anywhere, the logical place would be directly to your own computer, which is where you were going to use the stuff anyway, and save the extra step of getting it back down from the cloud. But then they would not have access to your files, right? That sounds gawdawful slow for modern wifi, are you sure you are not being artificially rate limited by that foobar2000 app? Or a setting in your router that needs adjusting? I know https://f-droid.org/packages/com.ghostsq.commander/ is supposed to handle SMB and (S)FTP, maybe that would be faster? On the PC side I used to use FileZilla almost 20 years ago, don't know if its current version might be faster. Others (I have not tried these): https://f-droid.org/en/packages/org.primftpd/ https://f-droid.org/packages/be.ppareit.swiftp_free/ https://f-droid.org/packages/de.qwerty287.ftpclient/ https://android.izzysoft.de/repo/apk/com.github.ghmxr.ftpshare Depending on your habits, that might fill up faster than you'd like, making an SD card useful to have more space. I don't use that particular app so can't be sure why it does that. Have you tried granting that permission despite not having the card? You can go through android settings to change it back later if you change your mind or it does not help. Supposedly the phone is micro SDXC capable (according to phonedb.net), so look for that marking on the packaging to get the best transfer speeds and highest capacity. Within that labelling, also look at the stated transfer speeds since newer generation products will be a bit faster than older stock. I don't know what capacity card your phone can handle, is there anything about SD cards in the owner manual or other documentation that came with the phone? I did find that both https://www.coolblue.nl/en/product/961028/redmi-14c-128gb-blue-4g.html and https://www.ldlc.com/en/product/PB00645657.html claim it can take a 1TB size card, though I'm not completely sure those pages match your phone. I don't know what is in stores where you live. But personally, I like things that come with a "lifetime warranty". I have half a dozen of these 256GB (the max for my relatively old androids) in various devices for 7-8 years, zero issues so far, would buy more if I needed similar sizes: https://www.samsung.com/us/computing/memory-storage/memory-cards/evo-select-adapter-microsdxc-256gb-mb-me256sa-am/ even web ordering rather than going to local stores (most stores near me do not have this in the larger sizes anyway, and charge much higher prices for what they do have) just because of the warranty.1 point

@Uiti P. Uszer Open-Shell barely uses any cpu/ram, you can keep using both w/out problems, I do too. Let dev focus on adding new functions and fixing bugs rather than enabling what exist already.1 point

I tried some updates from 2015-2020, they all increased the system brightness. The same happens with Vista. Namely, the culprit of excessive brightness is SHA-2 2015 (normal update) and PosReady, too. windows6.1-kb3072630-x64_d5130670d4c9ce8618180fa8f2ce40401b9ca7e41 point

Fascinating article! I'd also be interested to how to make a very slim image without the original telemetry that was there in 2009 already.1 point

No, I don't, but thanks. I use VLC.1 point

I read @D.Draker killed his B85 mobo with those originals, not sure about the fixed. What exactly did you fix?1 point

And yes, sorry dear, CatsXP developer says your card is too old. sorry again. So apply the flag ASAP. I'm sure Dave's got a better card, that would explain a lot. Source. No. It is indeed Thorium trying to connect to this address. To be more precise it is the process thorium.exe.1 point

Can anyone tell me why Thorium is trying to connect via UDP to the address 239.255.255.250 using the port 1900 almost every minute? My Windows 10 Firewall Control is blocking and logging this connection, fortunately. I performed a WHOIS check and got this information: # # ARIN WHOIS data and services are subject to the Terms of Use # available at: https://www.arin.net/resources/registry/whois/tou/ # # If you see inaccuracies in the results, please report at # https://www.arin.net/resources/registry/whois/inaccuracy_reporting/ # # Copyright 1997-2024, American Registry for Internet Numbers, Ltd. # NetRange: 224.0.0.0 - 239.255.255.255 CIDR: 224.0.0.0/4 NetName: MCAST-NET NetHandle: NET-224-0-0-0-1 Parent: () NetType: IANA Special Use OriginAS: Organization: Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) RegDate: 1991-05-22 Updated: 2013-08-30 Comment: Addresses starting with a number between 224 and 239 are used for IP multicast. Thanks for investigating this! Here are my hardware ans OS specifications: Windows XP Professional SP3 with all POSReady updates with an Intel Pentium Northwood 2.80 GHz CPU (single core, 32 Bit), 1.5 GB SD-RAM and a NVIDIA GeForce 6200 graphic card. It is very strange that you and I often come to different results. The uBO logger does not work for you in single-process mode, but it does for me. On your P4 machine, you have no problems with loading the filter lists in multi-process mode, but I do. What's going on there? It's almost hard to believe. And where is the explanation? Something is not right at all.1 point

Maybe it works for this too? Thank you very much! Setting dom.forms.button.standards_compliant to false did the trick. For the very first time, I was able to upload a test file from New Moon 28 to my main folder on Codeberg. I am really happy. Great find! Thanks again!1 point

Yep! It works as it was designed. But personally I don't like this design. TZ Clock only shows the time and date when clicking onto the toolbar item. In contrast, my Clock custom button shows the time in the toolbar itself and when hovering, the weekday and date. But in the end, it's always a question of taste.1 point

That's exactly what I wanted, too, but in terms of our British OS. I've always wondered why we still don't have a widely accepted OS. Thanks for the idea, a German OS also looks like a brilliant idea! I'm perfectly aware of our British Raspberry Pi by the Raspberry Pi Foundation, but what I want is a full alternative to Windows.1 point

Thank you very much! Confirmed fully working with Windows 8 ! You're a saviour! Topic can now be closed, thanks to @D.Draker.1 point

Well done! Your Dutch colleagues will be delighted with such a service. BTW, I already mentioned this issue here two weeks ago: https://msfn.org/board/topic/185966-my-browser-builds-part-5/?do=findComment&comment=1258614 I have fixed my German language pack the day I posted this issue. This corrected language pack has been in testing mode since then. I will post it when testing mode is over, and all is definitely working. So far, no further issues.1 point
