Dial Up

Recommended Posts

I have XP Pro running on a notebook, with which I want to dial up to the internet, however, The modem hangs up before the other end can pick up the line. It takes a couple of beeps, and immediately says the line is busy, though it is not... How can I stop the modem from automatically hanging up?

Thanx

Yes, I think it does have compatible drivers, it comes up as the right product (Onboard), and the Previous OS was Millenium Edition, however I never bothered using the modem while it was on there, so I don't know if it worked...

That lucent 'win' modem is a 'software' modem. many of them DO NOT work very well with XP. You may have to resort to a PCMCIA card modem for functionality. but go ahead and check the site. Sooner or later, they will have to do something to support those pieces of crap win-modems. Is it a compaq presario laptop by any chance?

Hi..

The problem may not be the drivers or the XP...

Check if you´re phone line is pulse or tone first and see what your computer has selected....

See what kind off sound your phone line do before you dial....

Uncheck the "wait for dial tone before dial"...

hope this helps....:beer
