bestleonard Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 Running just two PCs, both with Media Edition, SP2,Both have file and print sharing, Client for MS networks,tcp/ip enabled. With the ‘new’ one, I can ping the other PC but cannot map a drive toA shared folder. I get the error: ‘Drive could not be mapped because no network was found’The other error I get is trying to share folders on the ‘new’ PC.I get the error:An error occurred while trying to share documents. The server service was not started. The shared resource was not createdAt this time. So, I went to services and started 'server service' I got the same erroragain, when trying to share a folder.Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.Thanks,B.Leonard
luke.mccormick Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 check the dependencies tab..also after u start the service stay in the services mmc and refresh every few seconds for about a minute to make sure it doesnt stop right away.
CptMurphy Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 You should also check the event log for any problems with services starting up. Have you been reconfiguring any services?
ringfinger Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Server and workstation services need to be started. Be sure you have the NTFS permission setup right.

ringfinger Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Yup. Right click > props > Startup Type = Automatic. Apply, close.
