maxXPsoft Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 cheers MC worked just fine for me leaving just the wims and catalog files
MAVERICKS CHOICE Posted August 29, 2007 Author Posted August 29, 2007 A pleasure MaxI just wanted to reduce the bloat from my source further on a ua install.
Innocent Devil Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Sources Directory need only the two files boot.wim and install.wimit works fine on dvd boot UABTW does anyone know how to change the path and name of install.wimie "\Sources\install.wim" of default to somthin like "abcd\def.wim"
MAVERICKS CHOICE Posted September 5, 2007 Author Posted September 5, 2007 (edited) @IDYou are correct & I haven't disputed that if you see my second post....Quote....Sources Directory need only the two files boot.wim and install.wim it works fine on dvd boot UA  Edited September 5, 2007 by MAVERICKS CHOICE
Dobby Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Perhaps ID is suggesting that you don't even need the catalog files?
MAVERICKS CHOICE Posted September 5, 2007 Author Posted September 5, 2007 Thats also correct, but if you want to modify further with the waik you will need the catalogue files. My Idea Dobby, to remove many of the bloated files within not the p***y ones OK......
sp00f Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 First of all this isnt the place to discuss vlite... but hey who am i......Vlite doesnt remove everything, i mount the install.wim and remove everything by hand, like all example videos and music etc.I only have boot.wim , install.wim and the .clgfolders : Boot, efi, and sourcesSo thx again MAVERICKS CHOICE , works fine for me.
Dobby Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Hey calm down Mav. I was only pointing out what I thought he was talking about.
Innocent Devil Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 to further for a BIOS based PC only two folders required boot and sources (with right content)efi, upgrade etc can be deletedalso from boot directory etfsboot.com,memtest.exe,bootfix.bin and fonts folder can be removedi m not sure abt the en-us folder, probably it can also be removed
maxXPsoft Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 kewl Innocent DevilI'll try next go round
Innocent Devil Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 with sp1 der is no mui for bootsect.exe so en-us can be removed.so boot dir will end up with bcd and boot.sdibtw why m$ ships boot.wim with WinPE (boot.wim #1)and WinRE( with setup.exe)(boot.wim #2) ?deleting winpe will not reduce the boot.wim size by much but still why so ??
