tEd:P Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 Hmmkay: Odd. Everything up through w2ksp51.7z.001 downloaded perfectly from mediafire, but .002 and .003 produced consistently mismatched checksums and generated numerous "file broken" errors upon attempted decompression. They were fine, however, coming from e-snips.The list of hotfixes destined for said folder at the front of this topic differs somewhat (by maybe 5 additional items) from the A and B archives currently downloaded: Do I assume correctly that the archives' contents supersede the list, and that what they lack is intentional?
Kurt_Aust Posted November 1, 2009 Author Posted November 1, 2009 Yes, the archives are right, I'm still waiting for the Silent .Net maker to support the latest updates, still here are the changes for this month so far:Deletions:Hotfix\090-Windows2000-KB920685-x86-ENU.exeHotfix\250-Windows2000-KB931784-x86-ENU.exeHotfix\580-IE6.0sp1-KB938464-Windows2000-x86-ENU.exeHotfix\890-Windows2000-KB973346-x86-ENU.exeHotfix\892-IE6.0sp1-KB972260-Windows2000-x86-ENU.exeHotfix\990-dotNET11sp1b.7zAdditions:Hotfix\914-IE6.0sp1-KB974455-Windows2000-x86-ENU.exe 4,216,728Hotfix\916-Windows2000-KB973525-x86-ENU.exe 495,344Hotfix\918-WindowsMedia64-KB974112-x86-ENU.exe 598,920Hotfix\920-IE6.0sp1-KB958869-Windows2000-x86-ENU.exe 1,551,240Hotfix\922-Windows2000-KB975254-x86-ENU.exe 537,840Hotfix\924-Windows2000-KB969059-x86-ENU.exe 1,049,336Hotfix\926-Windows2000-KB971486-x86-ENU.exe 1,604,344Hotfix\928-Windows2000-KB974571-x86-ENU.exe 513,264RunOnce\Windows2000-WindowsMedia-KB954155-x86-ENU.exe 768,392Part 4: .Net framework AddOns The .Net AddOns are not yet available, you'll have to use these files:The AddOns linked to in the downloads section was created using Tomcat76/Strel's script, they are used rather than the original Microsoft installers as they save 70.5MB on your install media (28.3 for 2.0, 42.2 for 1.1). Targaff Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Kurt: I've been preparing a new install CD and been tweaking it a bit to suit my needs. I want to install the High Encryption Pack but I'm not sure where best to put it. If I give it the /q switch it asks for a reboot; if I use /q:a it doesn't, but I haven't been able to ascertain for certain whether it is in fact installed with that switch (there's no add/remove programs entry, or at least if there is I don't see it).I currently have it at the end of Run2_W2Ksp5.bat but I'd be grateful if you'd take a look to see if there's somewhere better for it to go.Ta!
Kurt_Aust Posted December 11, 2009 Author Posted December 11, 2009 (edited) According to the documentation, the /q:a switch should work.If it did work then rsaenhs.dll should exist in your \system32 folder. As it doesn't interfere with anything else, it can go pretty much anywhere. Targaff Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Hrm, well i couldn't see it on my VPC install. I stuck it in my real install since everything else was working fine, but there I'm getting a **** mup.sys boot error... and I don't have the willpower to fix that right now.

It predates SP1 and over the years restrictions on encryption technology have been relaxed, for instance IE6 uses 128-bit encryption.
Targaff Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 I don't know, tbh - I would've assumed that the reasons for the pack's creation in the first place (export restrictions, namely) would still be applicable on later versions, but maybe they were able to come to some agreement? Either way, I don't see any harm in installing it. Though I'm inclined to create my own addon for it at this point instead. Thanks for the updates, as per.

erpdude8 Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Yes RyanVM's tracker is down, apparently he is trying to diagnose server problems with the forums at the moment.unfortunately the RyanVM tracker site still has NOT worked on all the XP/Vista machines that I've tested today [produces error 404 message in IE/Opera/Seamonkey/Chrome/Safari browsers etc.]. barely 4 months since the problem and not a resolution in sight. very disappointing indeed.
Targaff Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Do we know whether the issues surrounding KB977165 impact on Win2k at all? I haven't updated my environment yet, so I could leave it out if need be...
Kurt_Aust Posted February 15, 2010 Author Posted February 15, 2010 Erpdude8:It's indeed an unfortunate loss of a valuable resource, still you can get SP5 from MediaFire, eSnips or this guide's torrent.Targaff:According to Microsoft's preliminary investigation, the problems regarding KB977165 are due to a pre-existing rootkit on the affected systems.
