April 12, 200719 yr Hi,I'm running on my machine Symantec Client Security Corporate Edition since while... it works like a charme.Today, i wanted testing the latest Norton appz (Norton Internet Security 2007 and SYMANTEC NORTON 360), can't install any on my VMware machine. I get "Setup cannot be installed because there was a problem authenticating your Windows Installer" (see here bellow attached image).Anyone can help???Regardscoucou
April 12, 200719 yr I got that too, and the same thing happened when I tried to apply the fix found on Google for that error message. Solution? Avoid the product.
April 12, 200719 yr While I wouldn't really condone "testing" various products without using valid trial editions, I would agree that Norton products usually aren't worth your time.
April 12, 200719 yr I too would avoid Norton products as though they are the plague. However, if you insist on using this; use Dial-a-fix to resolve your issue.
April 12, 200719 yr just want to jump on the bandwagon and say I agree that Norton software is a waste of time and money. Anyway a quick google search for that phrase returns the following:http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/share...pen&src=_miwhich leads to a bat file to 'fix' Windows Cryptographic Services:@echo Stop the Cryptographic Servicesnet stop cryptsvc@echo Rename the Microsoft catalog directory.@echo This will be rebuilt automatically when we restart the Cryptographic Servicesren %systemroot%\System32\Catroot2 Catroot2-old@echo Unregister all DLL's related to Crytographic Servicesregsvr32 /s /u softpub.dllregsvr32 /s /u wintrust.dllregsvr32 /s /u initpki.dllregsvr32 /s /u dssenh.dllregsvr32 /s /u rsaenh.dllregsvr32 /s /u gpkcsp.dllregsvr32 /s /u sccbase.dllregsvr32 /s /u slbcsp.dllregsvr32 /s /u mssip32.dllregsvr32 /s /u cryptdlg.dll@echo Re-register all DLL's related to Crytographic Servicesregsvr32 /s softpub.dllregsvr32 /s wintrust.dllregsvr32 /s initpki.dllregsvr32 /s dssenh.dllregsvr32 /s rsaenh.dllregsvr32 /s gpkcsp.dllregsvr32 /s sccbase.dllregsvr32 /s slbcsp.dllregsvr32 /s mssip32.dllregsvr32 /s cryptdlg.dll@echo Start the Cryptographic Servicesnet start cryptsvc@echo Done.
April 12, 200719 yr The above didn't resolve the issue for me when I dared try the trial product in VMware, either. I believe Dial-A-Fix does the same thing to the same files as well.
April 13, 200719 yr Author TNX all for yr help!!!As i wrote here above I'm usually running Symantec Client Security Corporate Edition on my machine for a while and i'm really satisfied with.Regarding the latest Norton valid trial editions (Norton Internet Security 2007 and SYMANTEC NORTON 360), I'm NOT considering to install them on my machine. I just want testing how they works. In that order i tested their installation on a VMware (virtual machine). Maybe Symantec Norton does not designed those latest appz for a virtual machine. Anyone got a success installation on a NON virtual machine?Strangely, I easily install the here above Symantec Client Security or Antivirus Corporate Edition.Regardscoucou
