Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had a good link that would help a newbie (me) with getting started with VMware. I've had a look around the web but not found much. i'll keep looking meantime, but any leads are appreciated.

don't take this as an offence (it is not intended to) , but VMware is a pretty straightforward piece of software and it is well documented in the manual.

VMWare has alot of information availible on its site and forums too.

Just want to put in a word for VirtualBox though, its free/open source and of course has a manual (pdf) availible

He has links to various utilities and gui's that help you work with vmware images.

My 2 cents...

Installing it using the defaults has always worked for me.

Same with installing the vmware tools into a virtual machine.

What OS are you on? If you're on Windows XP (as the host) DO NOT USE VIRTUAL BOX!!!

For me it killed the USB ports and gave me a BSOD. I advise you find more info or don't use it.
