gosh
nooo...Just follow my guide. LS will be called install. BT will be called BOOT. You want to place BOOT under Install. The i386 folder will be under LS folder.-gosh

Pure Krome
Gosh, your first post works like a charm...in fact, it's so **** good, i think i just figured out to get a CD INSTALL to load my Sata/Raid HD Drivers, __without___ having to hack any files (eg. txtsetup.sif, etc).more info in a new post when i've completed my testing about CD INSTALL + Raid Drivers thanks gosh. Rahbas
I have made a cd with the options as Gosh stated in the second post where you choose between an unattended setup and a regular install. It works great on the unattended install but the attended install with no winnt.sif is still grabbing the cmdlines.txt from the $oem$ folder. Has anyone tried doing this with this method. Everything is working fine other than the attended setup is grabbing the cmdlines.txt at the 10 minute mark and erroring out because the $oem$ is not copied to the hard drive. In short I don't wish to have the cmdlines.txt file run at all.My cd structure is here.Folder listing of C:\INSTALL\$OEM$\ 11/10/2003 9:59:37 PM 359,171 kbI386\ 11/10/2003 9:58:01 PM 340,716 kbVOL1\ 11/13/2003 8:09:48 AM 7,081 kbVOL2\ 11/13/2003 8:09:48 AM 7,079 kbDELOAD.BIN 5/8/2001 12:35:34 PM 1 kbDISKEM1X.BIN 7/11/2001 3:59:44 PM 12 kbDISKEMU.CMD 11/13/2003 8:10:44 AM 2 kbGHOST.IMA 11/11/2003 9:22:52 AM 1,440 kbGHOSTL.IMA 11/12/2003 2:31:09 PM 1,440 kbLOADER.BIN 7/9/2001 9:13:18 AM 2 kbREADME.TXT 11/12/2003 4:03:25 PM 3 kbSPNOTES.HTM 8/23/2001 10:00:00 AM 11 kbVOL1.DAT 11/11/2003 2:07:00 PM 2 kbVOL2.DAT 11/11/2003 2:19:42 PM 2 kbWIN51 8/23/2001 10:00:00 AM 1 kbWIN51IP 8/23/2001 10:00:00 AM 1 kbWIN51IP.SP1 8/23/2001 10:00:00 AM 1 kbIf anyone know how I can get around this issue please let me know. Thanks
gosh
i saw the same thing on my cd, i think that's a microsoft bug since like you say there is not unattend file being used.-gosh
Rahbas
Thanks for the quick reply Gosh. By the way a big thanks to Gosh for posting this thread in the first place. It has helped me do some things I didn't think was possible because of size constraints doing it the "Microsoft" way.-Rahbas
SlavUser
My method just avoid the first file copy phase, NOTHING is installed yet. Nothing such as the HAL is determined. It's exactly the same if you booted from cd and did a clean install.I've tried your method. I 've read the whole thread and there is stiill first copy phase when I'm tring to do a clean install. What's wrong? Maybe I should create partitions with PQMagic before running install or what should I do?So "the first phase should be or not" that is the question.Thanks. Bachus
If you'd read the thread, I asked this very same question on page one. This method doesn't skip textmode setup, it only removes some unneeded files from i386.
gosh
My Guide skips the first step of file copy in Gui mode (there's no dosnet.inf on the cd). You still have to do text mode.-gosh
