Does anyone know if Microsoft intentionally designed RunOnceEx to stop processing with IE7? Replacing the iernonce.dll from an IE6 version works but how long will it be before Windows Updates puts back the IE7 version, thus stopping our RunOnceEx process again? The reason I’m concerned about this is that I use RunOnceEx after initial setup to deliver applications. Vista also seems to ignore values in the RunOnceEx registry key. I'm thinking a lot of us will need to chain applications a different way soon?

To return the repair option you can make a multiboot cd. Takes a bit of time to do though. Not sure about your SATA question.

I think I found an issue with the subroutine for Student 2006. I was using that subroutine to install some other software (Microsoft Virtual Machine) but I couldn't get it working. Looked at 130_Student-Streets.vbs and replaced strDecompress with str7zcmd in the ws.run line. Additionaly I added a new line below to get my install to fire off. Not sure if this is correct code but so far it seems to be working (Haven't tried a real install yet). After my installation is finished the Start Menu/Programs are not sorted by name. It seems to be sorted by type? Am I missing something to get the menu sorted by name?

theUtmost, This looks like nice work. To get the "press a key to boot from cd" thing working gohere and grab jo.sys and put it on your floppy disk. You can even change the default timeout value. There are some other goodies on that website too. Hope that helps you out. It's been working for me for about 3 + years on our DOS bootdisk at work.

I have made a cd with the options as Gosh stated in the second post where you choose between an unattended setup and a regular install. It works great on the unattended install but the attended install with no winnt.sif is still grabbing the cmdlines.txt from the $oem$ folder. Has anyone tried doing this with this method. Everything is working fine other than the attended setup is grabbing the cmdlines.txt at the 10 minute mark and erroring out because the $oem$ is not copied to the hard drive. In short I don't wish to have the cmdlines.txt file run at all. My cd structure is here. I added this to my unattended install by doing it like this. start /wait %systemdrive%\install\Applications\media\Codecs\klcodec210f.exe /SP /VERYSILENT There are some advanced things you can do with this installer. You can do this with the Real and Quick Alternative programs too. Here's the info form the Inno Setup documentation. /SP- Disables the This will install... Of course, this will have no effect if the DisableStartupPrompt [setup] section directive was set to yes. /SILENT, /VERYSILENT Instructs Setup to be silent or very silent. When Setup is silent the wizard and the background window are not displayed but the installation progress window is. When a setup is very silent this installation progress window is not displayed. Everything else is normal so for example error messages during installation are displayed and the startup prompt is (if you haven't disabled it with DisableStartupPrompt or the '/SP-' command line option explained above) If a restart is necessary and the '/NORESTART' command isn't used (see below) and Setup is silent, it will display a Reboot now? message box. If it's very silent it will reboot without asking. /NOCANCEL Prevents the user from cancelling during the installation process, by disabling the Cancel button and ignoring clicks on the close button. Useful along with /SILENT. /NORESTART When combined with /SILENT or /VERYSILENT, instructs Setup not to reboot even if it's necessary. /LOADINF="filename" Instructs Setup to load the settings from the specified file after having checked the command line. I used this info and my modified unattend file because I wanted to save the settings so some of the codecs didn't get installed. It's a very nice way of customizing the setup for programs setup with the Inno installer.

Question 1 I haven't had any luck removing components within Windows. My main gripe is Windows Media player. I have followed what I could and haven't had any luck. Perhaps someone can comment. I will try that method, Gosh. I have tried replacing the default profile but did that using Windows Media 8 instead of WMP9. I will try with WMP9 and see what happens.

Hello, I'm pulling my hair out trying to get Media Player Classic to play all media files. The problem is I can set it for one user by going into Windows Media player and clearing all the file association checkboxes. After that I go to Media Player Classic and choose all media files. Again this works for only the current user because Microsoft decided that each user should have their own assocaitions for media files. I can see this somewhat handy for some instances but I'm trying to kill Windows Media Player file associations and use Media Player Classic for all users. Has anyone overcome this or am I wasting my time? Thanks

I have the main_batch replacing the default user profile with mine rather than using Microsoft's default profile. The problem I'm having is the Administrator account log in automatically during setup. When this happens I don't get my default profile with the administrator account. It works for all other accounts however. I have tried using cmdlines.txt to carry out this task using the same commands but it doesn't copy my default profile if I use cmdlines.txt. Does anyone know if such a thing is possible? I've thought of creating a user and having the temp user autologon, reboot and delete the temp user and the temp user profile but this seems like it would be a lot of work and I wouldn't know how to go about having this said temp user login automatically 2 times then delete the user and the users profile. Any ideas?

Hello, I was wondering if there was a way to set up power management for all users somewhere while setting up Windows XP? I have seen some people do this, but it's not working for me. [ComputerSettings] FontSmoothing=ClearType PowerScheme=Presentation The Cleartype didn't work either but I took care of that in my Default User profile. I'd really like to use "Presentation" power setting so the screen does not blank out when noone is logged in. I wouldn't mind getting cleartype to work either but it's as big a priority. I found the reference to these settings in the ref.chm file that Microsoft provides. Problem is they are talking about using this in the Winbom.ini file. I tried to apply it to the winnt.sif and it's not working. That also could be the reason it's not working.

I found out that flyakite was right and the ATI control panel will not install unless you have an ATI card and driver installed, However I had some apps that weren't so friendly about this. Below is the code that helped me get app to install but only if a certain file is found. Since the Laptops had the ATI Radeon 9000 and nothing else does that we have, I found a .dll flel that is specific to the Laptop and the ATI card. Thanks edg21 for pointing me in the right direction. Hello, I just found this site yesterday and what a great help it's been. Thanks all who created and frequent the site to make it so great. I am getting ready to deploy 180 Desktops and 50 Laptops at my place of work. We are going to be building images next week and I'd like to take full advantage of using unattended setup to make my life easier. For example, the laptops use an ATI Mobility 9000 and the desktops use an Intel solution. In order to get the ATI Control panel installed I understand I have to do this in the Applications section. Although I do have this working it will install on the desktops also using this method. There are some Laptop specific applications also that I want to automate but keep them off the desktop. I did do a search and manually browsed the boards, I bet the answer is here and I missed it. I be greatfull on any help on this. Thanks
