wildbill411
I may be swapping out my Motherboard for the exact same board. Some say I would be allright with my Windows installation; others say that windows will recognize the different Mobo Serial number and see it as a second PC. and not allow it?I am running Windows XP PRo SP2 OEM.Would I have a problem just swapping mobos and booting into my current Windows configuration? Thanks for any input. nmX.Memnoch
Replacing a bad motherboard is not considered a "new PC". It may put Windows Activation "Out Of Tolerance" and require to you reactivate though.
glent
I had a similar experiences, And I found as long as the Mobo has had the same chipset windows will boot lets say 95% of the time
nitroshift
I may be swapping out my Motherboard for the exact same board.Since the new board is EXACTLY the same as the old one, you'll be fine.

bonestonne
as long as the board is the same, it'll be nothing. similar to swapping the box a windows 98 drive is in...maybe a few installations, but it'll run the same.
