I wonder if it's still prohibited to use a GPS in a plane?

I wonder why, because why should it emit any signals more than a laptop (w/o wireless)... it receives satellite info, not sends them.

call a plane company and ask..

All electronic devices must be turned of during flight.

a laptop isnt an electronic device?

As I understand it, electronics are to be turned off for takeoff and landings. You are allowed to turn them back on once you are in the air.

you understand it correctly. but as wfunction said, hes not sure if they will let him use a gps, since they dont let you even turn on ur laptop's wifi. but you are perfectly allowed to use a laptop.

Very few consumer electronics can actually interfere with commerical avionics. But that doesn't have anything to do with airline policy. The only way to be sure is to ask the flight attendant. They will default to 'no' unless they have been told otherwise.
