I Just wunt a simple explination of how to install all my programs via the GUIRUNONCE or BATCH command,

i have put my installer files into the corrent folder,

and ive edited my winnt.sif file, and ive checked the batch files work, but after setup finished it says it cant find the .exe or .msi file to install

and its really making me pull my hair out, ive wasted soo many cds and dvds, (because VMWare is too slow :unsure: ) lol

As far as I'm aware you cannot use environment variables in that location

Change

[GuiRunOnce]
Command0="%windir%\source.bat"
Command1="%systemdrive%\vnc.bat"
Command2="%Systemdrive%\msn.bat"

to

[GuiRunOnce]
Command0="C:\WINDOWS\source.bat"
Command1="C:\vnc.bat"
Command2="C:\msn.bat"

Also in order for these locations to be correct:

  • Put source.bat into \$OEM$\$$
  • Put vnc.bat into \$OEM$\$1
  • Put msn.bat into \$OEM$\$1
  • Put \install\*appnamegoeshere* into \$OEM$\$1

Please re-read this page for verification.

Its mainly for OEM use, becuase im a System Builder in my local area, and its easy to make it auto format and then give the client the disc, and get them to buy a licence for it.

Or should i simly install it, as noramal forfigure it, run sysprep,

then Turn the machine off, and User NORTON GHOST to image the drive

but then how would i make it bootable, from a Norton Ghost Image

Thanks lol

:D

Pardon me, but I cannot understand the above, could you better explain the kind of License Reselling Agreement you have with MS as a System Builder?

I've got Volume Licence CD, direct from Microsoft, as i am a Microsoft partner, and then if i require a licence, i contact MS, and they will send me a new key, to which i sell the the Client, for just more than the price i paid for it

Hope this is more Clear, :)

Well, it is more clear, though unfortunately not completely (to me).

What the Client gets is a OEM license for a pre-installed OS bundled to the hardware you sell him, right?

And as a favour (or added value) you make the backup copy of the install on CD?

I thought that the above applied only to very large OEM's, and that smaller ones could only distribute "standard" Microsoft OEM licenses complete with CD and Certificate of Authority.

I'll have to make some research on what is the minimum number of sales per year to apply for the type of agreement you have, I always thought that it had to be in the 4/5 figures range , haven't you got some link?

No i havnt got a link sorry, ive contacted Microsoft About it, and its legal, so ive been told, so thy get the Origianl OEM CD, and then use SySPrep to Copy the image with the Software they chose, again with their own License. So they can simply boot the Norton Ghost Image, ans restor the PC back to the way it was when first installed, like you say, the way big firms do, and just for Reference i sell about 10 Licences per week :)

Well, 10 licenses per week means some 400÷520 sales per year, that explains a lot.

Though really your last post actually confused my ideas, sorry if I appear a bit "thick" (I probably am, ;)), but I still fail to see the general procedure, do you have also an agreement with Symantec for Norton Ghost and bundle it ?
