barcharcraz Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 (edited) I play oblivion and there is a mod that I downloaded which was a .zip I installed it with no problem but after a couple months aka now I want to get rid of the download file.so I try to delete it and get a error saying access denied.OK I think lets see what happens when I open the file in 7zip, what happens it that it just loops back to the directory that the file is in (obviously a corrupted file)next I get a file shredder, nope no luck.by the way there are no programs that are using it.there are also some others like this that have the same problem all oblivion mods all .zips Edited December 29, 2006 by barcharcraz
Ponch Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 I'd say it's a good occasion to make yourself a "Bart PE" disk.

barcharcraz Posted December 30, 2006 Author Posted December 30, 2006 (edited) just to ask why whould I want a BartPE for thisI have one and it would not help Edited December 30, 2006 by barcharcraz
Mikep7779 Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 You would want bart b.c its not windows. Windows isnt allowing you to delete the file, so by bypassing windows you can delete the file.
Jeremy Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 He should be able to use Unlocker on the file and with the Assistant delete it upon next reboot if it won't delete as is. Or boot to a CD like UBCD, XPCD, ERD Commander 2005, Reatogo Builder, to delete it.
[deXter] Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Why use third party programs when Windows has the functionality built in?Fire up Regedit. (Start-menu -> Run -> regedit)Head over to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session ManagerIn the right pane, right click and create a new Multi-string value and name it PendingFileRenameOperationsEdit it and type\??\C:\full path of the file u want to delete\filename.extFor eg, if I want to delete one tpgtrypr.dll in my system32 folder, I'd type:\??\C:\WINDOWS\system32\tpgtrypr.dll(followed by an enter)Save it and reboot your computer. The file will be delted on reboot. You can also delete multiple files this way by typing it on a new line.
barcharcraz Posted December 30, 2006 Author Posted December 30, 2006 thank you all unlocker seems to work fine
