Does HFSLIP support these hotfixes/patches from MS:

IE7-KB928089-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe (1st IE7 hotfix)

ENU_Q832483_MDAC_x86.EXE (is this needed for XP SP2?)

wic_x86_enu.exe (Windows Imaging Component; is this needed even if I slipstream WMP 11?)

KB885222

KB885884 (needed if you have Office XP on XP SP2)

KB887710

KB889527 (needed if you have Kerberos server)

KB893056

KB899587

KB902400

KB904706 (for DX 9.0c; is this needed even if I slipstream the latest DX from December 2006 ?)

KB908521 (needed if you have Office 2003 on XP SP2)

KB909095

KB912817

KB913446

KB917021

KB917537 (needed if you have IIS)

KB926247

if they are not supported,is there some plan to implement the integration in next HFSLIP releases ?

Also, have some of these hotfixes been replaced by others? I checked the various hotfixes lists listed on the HFSLIP site, but can't find any info about...

This is off the top of my head.

IE7-KB928089-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe - I believe it is supported.

ENU_Q832483_MDAC_x86.EXE - No, it's for SP1.

wic_x86_enu.exe - It's not required for WMP11, but I'm not sure if it works with HFSLIP.

KB885222 - Maybe...

KB885884 - HFSLIP slipstreams for Windows, not Office. Slipstream it into your Office XP install package.

KB887710 - ?

KB889527 - ?

KB893056 - ?

KB899587 - Yes, also on WU

KB902400 - superseded

KB904706 - Yes, still needed; bimonthly updates don't update the DX binaries, only add new gaming ones

KB908521 - same as above regarding Office updates

KB909095 - ?

KB912817 - Yes, also on WU

KB913446 - superseded

KB917021 - Nothing seems to be unusual.

KB917537 - Yes, also on WU

KB926247 - Yes, also on WU

@the_guy and ggg:

Sorry about that. I was only going upon what you (ggg) said in your post.

If I'm not mistaken, one thing is still true however. The update won't install unless you have Office XP installed, and unless you have it integrated onto your disc, there is no reason for HFSLIP to support it. Even still, it would need to be installed after Office.

so,if I would like to integrate KB885884 or KB908521, I'll have to extract the content of each hotfix, compress it to cab and manually replace the files in the I386 folder (or one of its subfolders) ?

I'll complete SM's comments...

IE7-KB928089 - haven't tested this yet; two potential issues: Windows setup may trip over the newer files and IE7 may overwrite them again

Q832483 - for SP1 only

wic - I'll take SM's word for it when he says that it isn't needed for WMP11. It's not supported by HFSLIP because it thinks it's a Type 2 hotfix, but you can force HFSLIP to treat it as a Type 1 hotfix by putting the word "Windows" somewhere in its name. The second obstacle is that only CD-based installs are supported because this update contains four files with long names; HFSLIP needs to be modified to provide support for DOS-based or network-based installs when including this update.

KB885222 - supported

KB885884 - not supported (destination of mso.dll unknown before Office is installed)

KB887710 - non-public hotfix so can't verify; the installation inf (sp2qfe) might help

KB889527 - not sure; it needs to be verified if arpidfix.exe does anything useful that isn't already covered by Windows setup

KB893056 - non-public hotfix, but this can be achieved with a registry hack (1)

KB899587 - on our update lists

KB902400 - superseded

KB904706 - on our update lists & still needed; use KB904706-v2

KB908521 - supported; this is a Windows file

KB909095 - supported

KB912817 - on our update lists; use KB912817-v2

KB913446 - superseded

KB917021 - should be supported; I'm including KB917021-v3 with my own runs

KB917537 - on our update lists

KB926247 - on our update lists

(1) Two possibilities to add the Hibernation button or entry to the Windows shutdown menu...

1) Add this into a .reg file and place it in HFSVCPACK before running HFSLIP:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System\Shutdown]
"HibernateAsDefault"=dword:00000001
"ShowHibernateButton"=dword:00000001

*or*

2) Add this into HFSLIPWU.INF (SOURCESS\I386) somewhere in the [HFSLIPREG] section after running HFSLIP:

HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System\Shutdown","HibernateAsDefault",0x10001,1
HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System\Shutdown","ShowHibernateButton",0x10001,1

Thankyou Tomcat76 !

wic_x86_enu.exe - It's not required for WMP11, but I'm not sure if it works with HFSLIP.

Sorry,I didn't explain well (english is not my 1st language): my question was not if WIC is needed by WMP11, but if the WIC components are included/superseded by WMP 11. So,I still need to know....
