Hi! I need to reinstall windows XP. I know my keycode and everything but I cant find my XPpro CD. I can find a XPhome CD I used to install on my other system. Is there any way I can use my current keycode with a home CD?

Or can I make a new disc using my current installation and just get the pro parts off it, or something like that?

No the cd key will be rejected and wont install, your best hope is if the windows home is still installed on the pc get a cd key grabber from the net and and will work, if it doesent work try a crack or serial site. but be carfull those kind of sites contain viruses and spyware if your going to go to one i recomend to update your anti-virus and have your firewall set to high!

I do not take any responsability for viruses or spyware.

1. This is not a warez site! Links/Requests to warez and/or illegal material (porn, cracks, serials, etc..) will not be tolerated. Discussion of circumventing WGA/activation/timebombs/keygens or any other illegal activity will also not be tolerated. You will be banned without notice.

Stop trying to get MSFN shut down :realmad:

Setupp.ini changes OEM vs Retail vs VLK, not HOME vs PRO. If the original poster does not have his media, there are several legal (and some not so legal) means of obtaining the XP CD. The only thing I can condone here at MSFN is contacting the computer vendor or Microsoft to provide you with replacement media - anything else would be outside the purview of the board rules.

l0cke - suggestion to you to contact the hardware vendor of your PC, or Microsoft, to see if they'll send you replacement media. Otherwise, you'll have to resort to other means to get the media - borrow from a friend, etc.

I was under the impression that you could use a Pro key to install XP Home ed., just not the other way around--but only assuming it the same type of CD (OEM/VLK/Retail).

This should be perfectly legal because Pro has MORE functionallity than the home ed., and the license cost more.
