thanks ripken

I like that antec case too, but i also like the color master one as well, but i read some reviews on the antec case and the front brezal can break easy and thats why i choose the color master as my Second choice.

as for the ram, i'm not going to overclock it until i get my new mobo as which i will put 2 gigs of DDR2 PC6400

well i'm not going to get a mobo probley until next year, becasue i will also have the Quad core too.... but that ram will be used alot, becasue i will build a second computer and then sell it .

Ok then i might do it, I will use the same case when i get new mobo, but that wont be for a while...., So if i upgrade from 1024 ddr PC2700 to 2048 ddr PC3200 i should see a speed increase right?

Going from 128 MBs of RAM to 256 you'll see a speed increase. Going from 256 to 512 you'll see it. Going from 512 to 1024 you'll see it but not as much. Going from 1GB to 2GB, not really. Your system's not going to use all that RAM, you're just spending more money to give your system more memory to use if it needs it. It would only need it if you were doing video capture, conversion, benchmarking, application testing in VMWare, running multiple virtual machines, etc.

If you're not maxing out your system like that then you're likely just wasting more money to have something to brag about. having 4 GBs of memory isn't worth bragging anyway.

You'll notice a decrease in duration with a faster CPU, especially when you're doing video conversion/encoding.

maleko-any clue if there are still problems with the ballistixs? about a year back ppl were get mem errors like crazy with them.

I did have a major problem with my Ballistixs, same speed etc as i got in now, major errors, MAJOR BSOD's...as the company I bought it from are a bunch of *insert bad word here* I foned up Crucial support, sent it to them with RMA, and had a brand new replacemt set WITHIN 24hours, which I have had in my system for...well, a while now, and have had NO problems wat-so-ever. Maybe they fixed it?

I did have a 1GB set of ballistixs before I got my PC4000 2GB set, and had no probs with that either.

In fact I sold that on ebay when I upgraded to my current set, and had no come back on that either.

Personally, I don't see a difference in performance when it comes to RAM, only if you wanna overclock it - thats when it shows stabability I feel, cheap ram is CRAP and nasty, but makes like OCZ, Corsair, Crucial - the big boys, I havent seen a MAJOR performace difference apart from overclocking stabability. (I could be wrong, but thats my experience, I just go for Crucial as their support is ace, and there stuff is nice and I don't overclock much now)

I did find out that the problem before with ballistixs had sommit to do with voltage, not sure exactly wat though.

My 2 cents:

A-DATA (V-DATA) makes good RAM and you can OC it with 5-10%, so if you want to OC then get other RAM.

You are looking at 2 very different cases:

The CoolerMaster case:

The good:

- Looks, timeless design

- Materials, totally build out of Aluminum, AND SURE NOT FLIMSY! 2mm inside, 0.8-1mm outside!!

The bad:

- Older inner design

- just one 8cm fan in the back (it has space for 2 8cm fans in front but it will make the system way more noisy)

The Antec case:

The good:

- Good design, except for the dull looking front

- 12cm cooling fan in the back and optional 12cm in front

- Comes with a not-to-bad PSU :)

The bad:

- Dull looking front

What I want to say more:

The CoolerMaster is a way different case then the Antec, the CoolerMaster is like 40% more expensive then the Antec so there is no way you really can compare them; mostly because of the materials used. I personally like the CoolerMaster better because of it use of Aluminum, even for the front! On the inside I like the Antec better with it’s 12cm blow holes and a not-to-bad PSU.

The questions remain: Do you care about noise? So yes then go for the Antec. Do you like a timeless design and a qualetive better case then go for the CoolerMaster but that one will be 40% more expensive, and yes it’s worth it in my eyes...

I disagree. There is a significant improvement of a Windows XP based computer up to the 2GB mark. There is a noticeable difference between 1GB and 2GB, especially when using large applications such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, the Nero Suite. 2GB is definately worth it.

As for the system not using the full 2GB, that's not true unless you spend the entire time that you use your computer with Windows on idle. Even running a few large applications simultaneously is enough to start making good use of that 2GB of ram.

4GB of ram is about the maximum I'd recommend for a desktop system due to 32-bit limitations. Not everything has moved to 64-bit yet.

Also, you missed a crucial aspect of his question.

So if i upgrade from 1024 ddr PC2700 to 2048 ddr PC3200 i should see a speed increase right?

The answer is simply Yes. There is a significant improvement in speed going from 333MHz DDR to 400MHz DDR.
