Martijn Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 (edited) Hi all,A day or two ago I've found out that my DVD drive wasn't being recognized anymore, and my Device Manager was like on the screenshot below:I can't get the drivers installed anymore An log from the Nero InfoTool program is attached below.I hope anyone can help me out. Thanks in advance!InfoTool.txt Edited October 29, 2006 by Martijn
Martijn Posted October 29, 2006 Author Posted October 29, 2006 Not that I know of, I haven't used my drive in a pretty long time and therefore didn't really pay attention to the fact whether it was there or not in Explorer, since I've got 5 other partitions.
Martijn Posted October 31, 2006 Author Posted October 31, 2006 (edited) Thought I'd give some more info, here is what Windows says when I try to install the drivers:Edit: Never mind I've followed instructions from the MS KB and it gave directions to remove a key from the registry, wich contained the value AnyDVD, a program wich I indeed removed causing the drive not to show up anymore Edited October 31, 2006 by Martijn
Martijn Posted November 1, 2006 Author Posted November 1, 2006 Here it is: MS KB.It says the article applies to Easy CD Creator but it can apply to any CD/DVD burning program, like in my case AnyDVD.Also, the Lowerfilters and Upperfilters keys found in that article don't need to be both in the registry, if one of them is found, you can just remove that one and restart.
Zxian Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 Yea... I've had that problem before. It's annoying when programs don't properly clean up after themselves...
Martijn Posted November 2, 2006 Author Posted November 2, 2006 Would it be an idea to sticky this thread, or reference to it in a FAQ type thread? When I searched on Google, I noticed that more people are having this problem. So it might be usefull...And I agree with what you said about programs not cleaning themselves properly, it's really anoying.
LLXX Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 I remember the infamous Sony rootkit would do the same thing to the drives when it was removed - it left an inoperative filter in the chain
neiantrim Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 thats a really cool theme, were did you get it
puntoMX Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Try to disable the IMAPI service too, it could help. other then that try to clean out the REG or reinstall XP.
puntoMX Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 LOL, I missed a part I think . Thanx for pointing me .
