I found out that CTRL-D deletes messages in outlook, very handy.

But its a great one hander for deleting files in Windows. It works for XP SP2 at least.

Has anyone else come across this? Its like the only thing I've ever uncovered that someone hasn't told me about.

Also can anyone vouch for this working in other versions of windows?

Tell me if you've heard of this, or ignore my post!

It is a good trick... But pressing the delete key on your keyboard is quicker... Both in outlook and windows :)

The DEL key is a great one finger :)

Basically CTRL+D is connecting to the shortcut in the context menu, so basicall ctrl is calling the context menu silently and pressing D is the shortcut for it... The same thing goes for Copying/Pasting/Cutting.

I use this one as often as my mouse:

SHIFT+DELETE: Deletes an item immediately without placing it in the Recycle Bin

heres one i stumbled upon (not really a keyboard shortcut)

open the start menu and then click on the volume control.

might be kinda surprising if it works.

Thanks - very useful as my left hand is usually located in that area instead of near the delete button ;)

It's funny though, that the shortcuts for cut/copy/paste didn't make me realise CTRL+D could be used to deleting ;)
