MSXML slipstreaming

Featured Replies

There are several MSXML hotfixes released today. HFSLIP needed to be updated for this (see test release 61010b), but it's for the better. MS seem to release "full" updates more frequently.

The following are supported with the current test release of HFSLIP:

MSXML2.5: KB832414_MSXML2.5_x86.exe (2K and XPSP1 only)

MSXML2 SP6: msxml2.msi + msxml2sp6-kb887606-x86-enu.exe (all)

MSXML3 SP7: KB924191 (all)

MSXML4 SP2: msxml4-KB925672-enu.exe (all)

MSXML6: msxml6-KB925673-enu-x86.exe (all)

No longer needed:

msxml3.msi

msxml.msi or msxmlcab.exe (MSXML4)

msxml4sp2-kb887606-x86-enu.exe (MSXML4 update)

msxml6.msi

I'm having problem installing MS SQL Server Management Studio Express since I started slipstreaming the new package/update for MSXML6 (msxml6-KB925673-enu-x86.exe). I think it's a problem with Management Studio Express itself not detecting MSXML6 because SQL Server 2005 Express was able to detect MSXML6 and installed properly.

Anyone else using Management Studio Express?

Maybe within the day, I'll try, as a workaround slipstreaming the original MSXML6 package (msxml6.msi) then silently install the update after Management Studio Express is installed... or if I have a leisure time, install SQL Server 2005 and Management Studio Express as application addon thru HFAAO.. ish!

a friend gave me a cd which should include all MS updates for XP after SP2 italian. The ones for msxml 2,3,4,6 are these:

KB832414_MSXML2.5_x86.exe

KB832414_MSXML4.0_x86.exe

msxml2sp6-kb887606-x86-ita.exe

WindowsXP-KB924191-x86-ITA

msxml4-KB925672-ita.exe

msxml4sp2-kb887606-x86-ita.exe

msxml6-KB925673-ita-x86.exe

msxml3.msi

msxml6.msi

msxmlitn.msi (=msxml 4 SP2 ita)

so,if I understand correctly,I can remove these without affecring the HFSLIP integration:

msxml4sp2-kb887606-x86-ita.exe

msxml3.msi

msxml6.msi

msxmlitn.msi (=msxml 4 SP2 ita)

but do I need msxml2.msi for the MSXML2.6 integration ? Where can I find it ?

Do I need msxml 2.5 for my XP SP2 or not ?

please help if you can.Thanks!

msxml2.msi is not for XP/2003. Also, KB832414 for MSXML4 is replaced by 925672.

  • 4 weeks later...

Do the 2 newly released hotfixes (KB927978 for MSXML 4 and KB927977 for MSXML 6) replace ALL the previous versions of MSXML 4 and 6 ?

Yes, and so did the XML4 and XML6 updates from October :)
