hougtimo Posted September 2, 2006 Share Posted September 2, 2006 Hi,I purchased 1gb of DDR2 667MHz ram for my new pc (am2, athlon64 x2 4200+), but when i put the new ram in the system didn't even post. put the old 512chip back in and it was fine again. bonestonne Posted September 2, 2006 Share Posted September 2, 2006 (edited) my dad has had similar problems somewhat like that, where one stick is DDR2, another is [whatever you call it] old RAM. your computer may not recognize DDR2, or its a faulty chip.also, smaller RAM chips [in terms of MB] always go in slot 1. larger chips always go in slot 2. if they're equal it doesn't matter.
