Hello,

to save myself time, i'm going to prepare an unattended installation of Win2000/Office 2000 as we use them in our corporation. I suppose it's going to be very likely to doing an unattended in XP, right ? If you have any advices, i'm taker.

im not so sure,

in winnt.sif preparation wisard there is no option for win 2000, and there is probably a reason for that

but give it a try and tell us how did it go...

Yes, its very much the same (almost). You will need the Win2k SP4 Deployment Tools.

I tried it once and it completely messed up with error boxes popping up everywhere. I wasn't sure if it was the IE6SP1 or DirectX 9 install causing it

Well thanks for infos. I'm just now trying it on a french win 2000 pro slipstreamed with SP4 and some Installation manager settings. I hope i'll succeed

With the good advices from MSFN i created today a slipstreamed install of W2K with SP4(fr) and it worked correctly. I would like to know if somebody would give me the global lines on how to build the unattended CD install, knowing that I want to install :

- Win2K Pro(fr) system with SP4(fr), hotfixes and drivers

- Some internet connection settings

- DirectX 9.0b and Windows Media Player 9 (+fixes)

- Symantec Antivirus corporate edition (i've already silent install package ready)

- Office 2000

- during graphical install, logo of our corp.

The source media would be CD(s) if it's possible to use more than 1 CD.

The system needs before installation of SAV Corp Ed. to be member of a domain.

Thank you for giving me some hints and short guidelines. If you feel like to help me go in-depth, i'd be very happy and recognizing of it.

when I worked for the pennzoil help desk, we used norton ghost on our win 2K cd's. It was as automated as you could get. Insert 1st CD, come back in 5 mins insert 2nd CD come back in 5 mins. reboot and add PC to network.

I've been making a tryout today, but it's not as automated as your solution. Eventually i'll come to this. I've to add full automatization for formatting/deleting partitions, keycode (is prompted actually), integration to the domain, to put some delay when installing office 2K from network (office service packs and fixes are launched right after beginning of 2K install), and drivers installation.

me two i got the same problem it was the Service Pack which messed it up (SP4)

After the installation I got explorer.exe have caused an error.

When I rebbot it works correctly.
