coyotewrw Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Any one know how to reshack msgina.dll to replace Standby with Hibernate? I never use Standby, but I use Hibernate all the time.Unfortunately, I have very little experience reshacking dialogs and prompts, so any help would be much appreciated. I'd like the Shutdown prompt to default to this:instead of this:

winsane Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 You will find it if you use your FTP prog to go to ftp.asus.com, anonymous login; then follow the folder tree manually to the file name. It's 12 MB.

erfahren Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Hi,You can also install MS Hotfix KB875506 and add a new registry setting: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System][HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System\Shutdown]"ShowHibernateButton"=dword:00000001This hotfix has an updated MSGINA.DLL which allows for all four buttons to appear on the signoff dialog. Some OEM PC's ship this update (I have seen it on some Sony PC's for example) so it's available out there. This hotfix should be available from the usual online sources.Kind RegardsSimonnote: for future readers of this thread - WinXP Service Pack 3 included the Hotfix KB875506 that PsiMoon314 mentioned here
Guest Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Correct, erfahren. But SP3 does not include the registry entry. To activate the four button shutdown dialog, just add the registry entry.
