Kiki Burgh
hi! would there be a way to replace boot screen via HFSLIP? thanks!
Tomcat76
I believe that's not what HFSLIP is all about. TommyP should be able to tell if I'm right or wrong. Personally, I don't feel like messing with this either.
Draugen
wouldn't this be just dumping a modified ntoskrnl in FIX? i can't remember wether or not it needs to be cabbed though...

Kiki Burgh
hi all!i kinda figured this is indeed not what HFSLIP is about ... this is just a personal wish list ... no offense meant ... (but i'd be happy to have it ... so i wouldn't have to put an extra file n HF anymore & have it slipstreamed to do such thanks! Kiki Burgh
hi TC/TP! my inquiry is boot screen related so i've posted it here ... if XPize is integrated, HFSLIP seems to leave out changing of bootscreen ... otherwise, HFSLIp allows XPIze to change the bootscreen ... as such, would it be possible to allow for the bootscreen to be changed even when slipstreamed? thanks!still interested if HFSLIP will allow for changing of bootscreen via an image we may put in a particular HFSLIP folder? ... changing of icons were made possible in 2K ... why not for XP? ... again, just a wish list ... If there are other ways, you should ask the author (XPero) for more info because they aren't publicly known.
Squeeto
Hey Kiki,Since reading your post I thought I would try it. It works for my Win2k just as Draugen and S-M suggest.Put a modified and 'makecab'ed ntoskrnl.ex_ in FIX.The bmp should be 640x480 and 16 colors. I used reshacker to change the image. Here is the one I made:test5.zip
Kiki Burgh
thanks squeeto ... haven't heard from you for quite sometime ... well that is here in HFSLIP i'll try your suggestions but i still need to study reshacker ...
Kiki Burgh
hi squeeto & others! i tried using reshacker to change the 5th bitmap (640x480x16) in ntoskrnel.exe & cabbed it (MAKECAB /D CompressionMemory=21 /D CompressionType=LZX ntoskrnl.exe) but when i placed it in FIX ... nothing changed is there something wrong with what i did? could this work in XP? would there be anything else aside from bitmap 5 that needs to be changed? thanks! Squeeto
5th bitmapFor Win2k, I found it in the 1st bitmap. See pic. Also I just- makecab ntoskrnl.exe
heisking
Kiki,The 1st bitmap is the one that needs to be changed. If you go here you will find some help on changing the bootscreen. Also, if you have a multiprocessor instead of a uniprocessor then ntkrnlmp.exe is copied over and renamed ntoskrnl.exe. Plus these files are in driver.cab.Good luck
Kiki Burgh
thanks Squeeto & heisking ... i'll try the 1st bmp then ... opening XP ntoskrnl.exe using reshacker though shows 5th bmp as the regular XP boot screen ... i'll update you guys when i'm done
