Enable Hyperthreading in the bios and WinXp will detect 2 cpu's by default

Sheesh... I always assume windows is installed correctly so the ACPI HAL is installed, sometimes forget people don't setup a bios correctly and end up with Standard HAL..

He could still have an ACPI HAL...just the "APCI Uniprocessor PC" HAL..

Best practise is that you enable HT in BIOS before installation of Windows..

Just what i said... or at least what i meant...

IIRC, you can delete the processor or "APCI Uniprocessor PC" in device manager. Upon the next reboot, XP will install the dual processor driver.

You should google around for the exact steps.
