LCD Screens

Featured Replies

The only problem with 18 and 19 in LCDs are that they use the same resolution as the 17s. Thus u dont have anymore screen realestate and your pixels are just larger, which lead to having a fuzzer image.

Why does it have this limitation? Can't it be forced to display higher resolutions in any way?

nope, it will cut it off

i think :)

but whatever it does, you cannot push it more..... :D

Well aaron yes it can be forced to do above the native resolution but it looks like total Sh*te. Very blurry and out of wack.

Im running an 18" TFT on its native resolution at 1280x1024 @ 60hz and its excellent for desktop/games, sometimes dvds look slightly blurred but you can adjust settings on powerdvd to make it look pretty much perfect anyway.

One of the main features I look for is "auto set" that resolves the resolution problems. Once the graphics card and monitor are calibrated it is just a simple touch of the "auto set" button to sort it all out. My main LCD has a good software package for customizing the resolution and other things. I also like speakers built into the monitor. The speakers are not near the quality of a dedicated sound system, but it is great for when I am working on another PC via a two PC LAN (I use a monitor switch box) and need to hear the basic sounds.

When I was investigating LCDs I learned that some manufacturers gear certain models to games and others to text or general everyday use. A close friend of mine that is a technician in a large computer store sort of made my decision for me. He took me into the tech room and showed me all the customer returns. There were no LG monitors in the stack, lol. My choice was simple. :)

Guys, I was at the store yesterday, and I was looking at a whole bunch of LCDs...The salesman told me that this LCD screen was better than the rest because it could handle a lot of graphic animation at the same time and would not give up on you, like the others he showed me...Is this one worth it?

hmm.. seems ok but nothing special. How much does that translate to in british pounds?

About 375 British Pounds...

2 things you should know about befor you buy is its contrast rating, brightness, and MS rating

The last one is the most important if you are a gamer. 20MS and below is where you want to be to avoid blurry gaming effects and fast paced dvd playback.

contrast ratio, response and other basic specs are good. it doesnt have much in way of additional features eg usb, built-in stereo speakers...

you might want a dvi interface instead of analog, but you will need a dvi output on your graphics card (eg gf4 ti+, radeon 9000+) this helps ensure the picture is as perfect as possible as your graphic card wants it to be displayed on your screen.

id still suggest the lg 17" tft over this one. how much is that in canada?
