URGENT URGENT... DELL INSPIRON 5150 SCREEN

everything appears white on the screen then after a few seconds i can see 4 or 5 red/blue lines going down my screen. external display works

any ideas any1

I've seen this before on this model... my solution was a new video cable. Most likely I'd bet its either the backlight, inverter or the cable.

bad lcd cable or lcd. Check that both ends of the cable are fully seated and if that doesn't do it call dell and get a new cable.

i used it for gaming manily, warrenty has run out so dell wont help there but i will check the cable ends

even if dell won't send warranty parts you can still normally buy a cable from them and fix it yourself, or buy it fro ma thrid party.

@ POW!! I used to work at a Dell laptop repair place doing this kind of work all the time. If you can't find what you're loking for from Dell or its to much of a hassle check at cameronelectronics.com. I looked and there's nothing listed under the LCD Cables link... just email them and tell them which model you're looking for I'm sure they've got it.

Did you drop it, apply excessive pressure to the screen, etc.

If you see white screen and the moving lines the LCD controller might be shot.

Backlight/inverter problems cause flickering or anomalies in brightness, but the image is still going to be more or less there. Bad cabling might be the cause; you can open and close it several times and see if the problem gets worse or better.

i didnt drop it at all, the story is...

i went out sunday at 7:30 am to a family fingy which started early i switched it on in the morning like i normally do, i left utorrent running and msn like i always do.. i returned home around 8ish pm and the screen waas complety white with black smudges in random places and i rectangle through the middle, i rebooted it and again it was the same

i normally leave my laptop on days on end its nevar done this before

i bought a cable 2day from my local maplin store.. i changed it and exactly the same things.. wiht leads me to believe my screen is fu*ked

LCD controller or screen is dead. Backlight and inverter are fine.
