I wonder if anyone knows the answer. I sometimes get an email which should have a picture attached, but all I get is a box with a red x in the top left corner.

I have Macromedia Flash Player & Shockwave installed, is there something else I should have installed?

Some eMail services block images for security reasons.

What eMail service are you using?

Try selecting the option that says something like: "Show blocked images" or even "Show eMail as HTML".

I tried unchecking the Blocked images without success. There does not seem to be any offer to show email as HTML.

Well, to be honest I have no idea of how to do it using Incredimail. I always used Webmail Service for all my eMail accounts.

to me the red x means java, make sure that u have the latest java installed. if that doesnt work then you should consider using another email program such as thunderbird.

What does Java have to do with a simple image file?

I have seen this error when the image is no longer where it should, and the code still points to that same place.

i dont know, but i do know that you will get a red x in a java applet if you dont have java installed

Just start using Thunderbird as ripken204 told you.

Be careful! Even image files can contain exploits that can download malware/software onto your machine (remember WMF exploit?) - for this reason I recommend reading e-mail in text only, and downloading/viewing attached images only if you are sure it is not malicious.

Thanks for the warning LLXX. I appreciate your concern, I would only open attachments from a known source even though my mail is screened by AVG.

It is just annoying when a friend sends me mail that I cannot see the images. I get jpegs, gifs etc from other people that I can see. I am wondering if there is a problem with my friends setup.
