Do American PSUs work in Eurpore?

Anyone know from experience? Selling a PC on Ebay and just got hit with that question. There is a fuse on the back of the PSU that reads 115/230, but not sure if that's it. Anyone ever try?

Thanks in advance as always!

There should be a notch on the back of the PSU to indicate 110v or 230v. This information is based on the ATX1.0 spec (and prior to 2004). I'm not 100% if the current range of PSUs still have this switch on the back - if it doesn't, then they're probably auto-sensing. You better check on the manufacturer's website on the particular model you are looking for, just to make sure.

Check if the red switch is there. Most of the in the USA sold PSUs have that switch. If you by them in Europe (b/c of the CE standard they keep it out for safety) you have the chance that it doesn’t have the switch and it will not work in the USA (but this is not the case for you ;) ).

Don’t worry about the power cables; that one is sold separated and you can buy it in ant electronics store over there (put 5 Euros and you have one).

Are you in the states now and moving to Europe or just buying in the states? If you only buy it then ask before you order the PSU if it has the switch. Good luck ;)

ATX Logic on-off

additional power

rocker switch

(115/230 V selector switch)

It'll work if you set the "115/230 V selector switch" to the right position.

every consumer PSU will have an IEC C13 connector on the PSU (female side), and then you'll need the right power cable for the country you're good. Like everyone else said, you want to check the box for either "auto-sensing voltage" or that it has the red voltage selector on the back
