tomcat-what are u stable at now?

i have finally had some success today. ive burned in last night and that got me stable at 265x10 1.513

now im testing 270x10 and it seems to be stable so far at 1.582v

ive tried 1.586v before at 270x10 with no luck but after a few weeks i am able to do it now

ill let prime run for about 24hr since im going to be busy tonight, and ill report tomorrow

290x8.0 @ 1.300V, MEM @ 2.70V, "southbridge" @ 1.50V.

I tried 292x8.0 yesterday but that got me an error after 1.5 hours. It's now running at 1.325V again and I'll test it tonight.

I shouldn't try 293 because it'll freeze Windows at some point.

BTW... Prime95 is playing tricks with me again. You got me on the right track last time when you said I should set the affinity in Task Manager as well. This worked twice, but it doesn't anymore. I can only run one instance of Prime95.

Check list:

- Copy the P95 program files to two folders

- Set one to CPU0 and the other to CPU1

- When started, go to Task Manager and set the one for CPU0 to CPU0 only and the other to CPU1 only

- Start the Blend test for CPU0 and immediately after the Blend test for CPU1

It looks like I'm gonna have to use Windows XP for this sort of thing and not 2K...

3hrs worth of prime, i need to do some other stuff so i dont have any more time to prime. looks vry good to me so far, now its time to check if the ram can handle it

just be aware of vcore

Dfi is a monster, board overvolt vcore by about 4% from what i've seen

Take vcore form cpu-z and x it by 1.04

So in reality you run ~1.60 vcore or higher

Some dual core may die at 1.77v real vcore or higher.

My opteron holds 1.81v (measured with multimeter) strongly. Buth that's only for benching sessions

how do u get that? the bios is telling me 1.57 . woudlnt there be something telling me the voltage?

There's currently no bios and no software that can display voltages accurately

To check real volts you need a multiplier. On DFI LanParty nf4 everything is overvolted.

Basically from what I've seen, BIOS is 2% off of the true value. Remember that BIOS also rounds up the numbers.

So ~1.57 x 1.02 = ~1.60v

not true that everything is overvolted. when you are clocking dual cores rly high like i am trying, it tends to undervolt

just burned for another 28hrs! im gunna do some priming and see how it went.

on my current setup, it just lead to, allowing less volts, not more speed

i wasnt trying to get more speed, im just trying to get 2700 wiyh less volts

yah, 2.7 is still nice for a dual core

they produce more heat.

how low did u get with burn-ins

I did burn-ins for a while, got .1 diff once

I have my X2 4200+ running very stable at the following

FSB: 333Mhz

Core Speed: 2667.3Mhz

Multiplier: x8

Core Voltage: 1.35

HT Voltage: 1.55

Memory: 222.3Mhz

CPU Temp: 33Degrees C at Idle (Stock Fan)

I find that both my SLI-DR's undervolted, and so do others by the same percentage.

using special vid percentages seems to give more accurate voltages. 1.45 * 110% gives 1.536v for me.

Also burn-ins helping overclocking = myth.

The only way you can get a chip more stable at the same voltage is to decrease its resistance, something I can't see coming from a "burn in". You can of course use phase as a cold chip = less resistance

1st nite i got the opty, ran 230 1:1 (2530mhz, 3-4-8-4, 2.8v) fine at stock voltages (auto,1.33v in bios, other voltages +.02). next day, wouldnt boot at stock voltage. had to up vcore to 1.475 at the above settings. (bios read 1.45, cpuz read 1.33 wtf?)

2 instances of prime would fail at the above almost instantly, it would reboot the pc. 06 benches hung in varying places. had to drop ram to 225 (1:1 still) to get a complete 06 bench or prime (only about 2 hours). then went back to 230 with a 1:2 divider, still the same. havent had any time to dig into ram settings to see if 230+ is stable. i have 2x512 of mushkin pc3500 lvl II that i can throw in, but i'd like to figure out my set up as is....

my main issue now is the voltage readings for vid control. cpuz and everest tend to agree, but are WAY under whats set in bios, plus bios doesn't even read close to what i have it set to (+/- .025v) so thats kinda holding me back. im worried about adding more voltage.
