Jeremy Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 Unfortunately, not all of us have the luxury of using uTorrent as well off as others. Zxian gets 500 KB/s DLing Linux distros. I'm lucky if I get 5 KBs on a torrent with a billion seeds. I don't know what it is...Anyway, Zxian, I believe he asked for a silent install method for Shareaza, not advice on alternative p2p software. If we were talking about browsers, I'd just say "Go with Opera, powerhouse right out of the box."But, not this time around. Sorry for being so blunt, but there's a dude in class today whose depressed/irritated at something and his atmosphere seems to be contagious. I'm empathic.

Anyway, Zxian, I believe he asked for a silent install method for Shareaza, not advice on alternative p2p software.I think he was actually talking about Sharaza bugging him all the time with notifications and pop-ups and the "media box".

Hi All you have to do is close the "little box" and if nothing else is wrong with your sistem you should not see "notifications" (i suppose you have Shareaza 2.2.1.0) (use CCleaner and TuneUp Utilities 2006 to clean all your temps & check your registry )You may also go to "power mode" and go to "Shareaza settings" \ general \"when i click minimise" and select "minimise to try" Edited November 14, 2005 by Mercury 22
breadandbubbles Posted November 15, 2005 Author Posted November 15, 2005 yes, i was looking for a way to prevent any popups of shareaza whatsoever. it already stays minimized in the tray. this is bothring the heck out of me. whats worse is that virtually the entire shareza site, including the forums are still "under construction"ill have to go with something else. whats uTorrent. does it include p2p capabilites as well? high CPU usage?its funny you guy should say that about speed. i have a house in the city and i get speeds averageing about 5 kb/s on a good day, while my other computer at my house in the country i get about 1000 kb/s. the thing is its my sisters computer not mine. she said i could download using her PC so long as its silent and doesnt get in her way. shell never notice. i agreed, and installed shareaza.i decided on shareaza because of the following:1) it boot up with pc, MINIMIZED TO TRAY AREA(most important)2) offers p2p capabilites3) very helpful -> offers REMOTE USEso i can download files onto her pc from my pc in the city. its brilliant.now...i cant. shes getting p***ed at this media box...can uTorrent do these things?
Zxian Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 uTorrent is a bitTorrent client, so anything that you can find on BT you can use uTorrent with. It's known for its very low CPU and memory usage. I have NEVER noticed it running on my computers - something that I can't say for BitComet or Azureus. It can start with Windows, and can be minimized to the system tray. There is no remote administration of uTorrent, but you could always just use Remote Desktop or UltraVNC for that.
breadandbubbles Posted November 15, 2005 Author Posted November 15, 2005 excellent! thank you!oh, on emore question...i have current downloads on shareaza that took me quite some time. is it possible to transfer them to uTorrent?
Scubar Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 it is not currently possible to transfer shareaza downloads over to µTorrent.wait until they are finished and then just start seeding them with µTorrent. you will notice the button in my sig.
XtremeMaC Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 maybe the speed problem isjust a simple fact of opening ports? (utorrent)shareaza is with edonkey network and gnutella so don't compare utorrent with shareaza...
