Meaning if there is a wmv vid in a website page with the removal of WMP 10 would I sitll be able to view it? Or would MPC be able to view it and thus totally negate the need of having WMP 10?

saugatak Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Suryad, you may also want to download the Quicktime and Real Player codecs and plug-ins for your browser. If you have the codecs, Media Player Classic will display QuickTime and Real videos as well, so instead of having 3 separate media players for each format, you can get by with one.
suryad Posted November 2, 2005 Author Posted November 2, 2005 Thanks. I already got QT alternative installed but since I dont and never really have used much of Real's stuff I am not getting the real alternative as of yet. am tempted to uninstall windows media player 10 but I think I will keep it because I use it to rip cds.
emodel Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Can that wmp10 crap really rip cd's properly ?!I tried many, and EAC is the only one which gave me a 100% perfect result all of the time.
saugatak Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 (edited) Suryad, there's this program called Deep Burner. Google it. It comes in a free and paid version and the free version does enough for most personal uses, certainly as much as Windows Media Player burner.WMP is bloated, has as a "feature" all sorts of DRM, is basically spyware and a security risk.P.S. you can't uninstall Windows Media Player. You'll need to nLite it out. Edited November 2, 2005 by saugatak
suryad Posted November 2, 2005 Author Posted November 2, 2005 I dunno. I value all you guys opinions but for some reason WMP seems to be great. I dont have a prob with DRM but I dont know why you guys call it bloated. I like the interface.....and i use it as the default player for all sorts of divx, xvid, real,qt vids and so on. And I use winamp lite to manage my music. Thats it. 2 players. Oh and Powerdvd 6 for DVds.
Zxian Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 My main annoyance with WMP is that it always resizes to the size of the video, regardless of the settings. With MPC, the video is always resized to the MPC window, the way it should be. Now... to figure out this filter/codec problem I'm having...(that's another topic though).
suryad Posted November 3, 2005 Author Posted November 3, 2005 haha that does not annoy me at all Zxian.
Ivanov Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 After unintsalling WMP10, open MPC and go to Options -> Tweaks. Uncheck "Use the WM ASF Reader...".
