fizban2 Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 Breaking down the DVD probably won't be possible yet. since they deploy vist a through the WIM format, it is looking for one wim file, you can break a wim into multiple parts but i don't think the vista setup manager would now how to deal with the multiple part wim. Since you have to use the setup to load vista you are sorta out of luck, best bet would be to get vista installed to machine get everything you want on it, then aquire ximage and create your own wim that you can break apart to CD size. Just my thought on it

os2fan2 Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 The XIMAGE program can repackage .WIM files into parts, suitable for install.You could try to install it from a boot cdrom + hard-disk files (say, copied and reassembled from cdroms, eg file-split. I don't know if that should work.Alternately, buy a DVD player, and install it from there.W
gunsmokingman Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 Just mount the image and copy it to your hard drive then install.For build, 5231 MS has cd images now, there are 3 images for thisbuild. They work as I installed Vista after I had burned them toCD.
