boooggy Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 sysdrive:\windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download.
BoardBabe Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 You can also get all (at least im pretty sure it's all) hotfixes from Windows update catalog. (Access from WU->Administrative thingy)
codeblue Posted August 10, 2005 Author Posted August 10, 2005 Thanks boooggy, i'll look there when i get home.
NateSmith Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 The Url for the Windwos Catalog is Windows Update Catalog B)
Shark007 Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 (edited) If you'd like to have Windows Update Catalog pre installed unattendedlycopy iuctl.dll from your system32 folder into your uA cd andrun regsvr32 on it from one of your batch files...Use the link given above to create a shortcut, assign it an appropriate icon.Shark Edited August 10, 2005 by Shark007
BoardBabe Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 Thanks, good tip. Was not aware that Windows Update Catalog needed to be installed.
BoardBabe Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 How do i make a .lnk to this that has a description?I am only able to make a URL shortcut that displays the URL as description.
nakira Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 (edited) Make a normal shortcut to IExplore.exe.Then add the url after the program name and you can add a comment and change icon. Edited August 11, 2005 by nakira
BoardBabe Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 Thank's man, that's what I was looking for. Ops, I deleted the original Windows Catalog link. I want to remove it in my cleanup. WHAT IS THE ORIGINAL LINK named? Is it a .lnk or .url?
nakira Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 The original is 'Windows Catalog.lnk'The icon is from %SystemRoot%\system32\moricons.dllStart in: %Homedrive%%Homepath%Comment: Find products made for Windows.
Shark007 Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 Here is the original ... on my computer it doesnt even work.I get an error message: There was a problem sending the command to the program.Which is fine by me, because i remove this through the uA process anyway.Shark
berrick Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 noobie question.... why would you want to do this??
BoardBabe Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 Thank's guys. I will definatly remove this annoying lnk. It does not work for me at Norwegian XP Pro either. It links to some "Page cannot be found" and a bogus URL.I'd like to remove the "Angi programtilgang og standardprogrammer" as it is called in Norwegian (Program access and standard programs) also, but it makes the Start-menu nice and wide Any way to through registry or whatever set the width of the start-menu? (Sorry if it's a bit off the track)
