August 2, 200521 yr Author Not doubting u r anything but i have never seen a monitor that REQUIERES SLI, i do admit i could be wrong but i just haven't seen one...
August 2, 200521 yr who said anything about a monitor requiring sli, unlees u gto confused with him saying 1900 resoulution, u can change the resolution of ur monitor but with a crappy vid card the larger resolutions dont look right but if u had 780gt's in sli then it looks amazing.the mushkin redline does come with heatspreaders but they got rly hot so u need a fan Edited August 2, 200521 yr by ripken204
August 2, 200521 yr I've got an Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe, but I haven't used the SLI. My 6800GT is so **** fast with every game I play that I can't justify any reason to get another card for SLI However, when prices drop and I can snag another 6800GT for around $130 or so, and the drivers support has matured, I'll probably get one. No hurries though Jason
August 2, 200521 yr The monitor doesnt require SLI, but playing at that resolution and to obtainplayable frame rate does.
August 2, 200521 yr Author I won't go higher than a res of 1600*1200... I have really bad eye sight so im doing good to see that now... but I already picked out the video card.... a 6600 GT
August 2, 200521 yr a 6600GT wont play games that resolution, the 6600GT has a high core clock by only about 8 pipes and a 128bit memory bus which cripples bandwidth thus performance aswell.but I take it, you wont be playing games?
August 3, 200521 yr Author I play games but not a resolutions that high... the highest i play my games are 1280*1024... nothing high... so i don't think i need a card that is at the brinks of technology...
August 3, 200521 yr another vote for the DFI nF4 Ultra-D... i've had mine for about a month now, and was running a DFI nF3 Ultra-D prior to that. great boards, but not for the 1st time builder (tho the nF4 has been much easier than the nF3). as for vid card choice... the 6600GT will work fine as long as your not trying to game on a dell 2405fpw @ native res.
August 3, 200521 yr Author lol... im not a first time builder so im gonna purchase this board... My old board is a MSI something or other Socket A (AMD Athlon XP 2000+)...
August 3, 200521 yr lol... im not a first time builder so im gonna purchase this board...Heres a thread that you might find handy. There are a boatload of memory options on this board.
August 3, 200521 yr Author Thanks... but i didn't understand one word of it... lol... really i didn't... I though ram was ram... but it is deeper than that by looking at the webpage provided by porn loader... i need something simplier...
August 3, 200521 yr just use that guide,if u need to know some terminology then just ask, the guide is excellent and should be the only one u need to look at
August 4, 200521 yr if you have built pc's before i wouldnt worry about it much. grab the dfi nf4. BEFORE you build it spend some time reading the stickies over on dfi-street. also make sure you have a backup rig (desktop/laptop/smokesignals) available just in case the crap hits the fan my install went nice and smooth w/ some old school BH-5 memory, but gaming stability wasnt so good. that memory guide helped out alot and got me nice and stable. still working on a nice stable overclock (2+hrs of prime) Edited August 4, 200521 yr by Porn Loader
August 4, 200521 yr Author will do ripken... anyways... im looking at a total of system RAM of 2 - 4 gbs any suggestions? I want a very overclockable ram... perfer 1 gb sticks over 512 mb...@PornLoader: I still have my AMD Athlon XP 2000+... ani't the fastest thing in the world but it goes....
August 4, 200521 yr Well, your going to have to settle with 2*1 GB modules if you want the ram to be very overclockable.because running all 4 dimms with memory means you can only run at 333mhz (PC2700) when using double sided sticks, or 400mhz @ 2T timing when using single sided dims. However there is much discussion about, as to the performance hit of 2T, alot seem to find once they get the HTT back up with tightish timings the 2T doesnt matter all that much after taking into consideration the extra memory you get.The Corsair 2GB DDR XMS3200C2PT TwinX 2*1GB modules are good for the price over here in the uk, 2-3-3-6 timings.
