What to choose: 1 GB or 1.5 GB RAM

I want to buy some RAM(2X512 DDR 400 Kingmax) but i don't know what's best:

to have 1 GB ram in dual channel OR 1.5 GB ram simple.

I use this PC especialy for games.

I have a Gigabyte 8IG1000 mobo and 2X256 DDR 400 Kingmax in dual chanel.

Please give your advice on this matter.

If you're a gamer, then go for the dual-channel setup! No doubt there...

Yes it is better, I run 2 1GB sticks in Dual Channel, and it rocks!

Why can't you run 1.5gb dual channel? Unless you board is different than mine you should eb able to put the 512mb in slots 1 & 3 and the 256mb in 2 & 4 and still have dual channel. I have 3gb in mine 2x1gb in 1 & 3 and 2x512mb in 2 & 4 and still have dual channel memory config.

Well I didn't know the dual channel would work with 2X256 and 2X512 modules installed.

My mobo has 4 ram slots so that is not a problem.

Always check your motherboard's manual, all the information about dual channel configuration is explained within. Not every motherboard has the same configuration, though typically Slot 1 and Slot 3 will be the first dual channel pair and Slot 2 and Slot 4 will be the second dual channel pair.
