Hi everyone,

i have a problem that when my computer install winXP pro, in the hardware list, it don't have ACPI support. Even though when i choice "Turn off" to turn off my computer, it also will not automatically off my computer, it only will show "It is safe to turn off your computer.", but if my computer install win98, it will have ACPI support and can automatically turn off my computer. What is the problem?????? :} My computer is P2 350, Intel BX chipset motherboard and 256 RAM. Thanks

BX chipset ...hmmm. the best intel chipset for w98

5..6 years ago of course and no bad at all today for w98.

no competition from AMD .

do you verify in your CMOS the ACPI settings for your BIOS ? (ctrl_alt-del...)

must be something enabled there .

aska98 ,

your old mobo only supports APM NOT acpi.

there is nothing you can do about it. You can try to change it from APM to APCI in Device Manager but i don't gruantee it will work as expected.

if you don't want to receive a message "it's now safe to turn off computer", download xteq 6.6 and download all plugins. In this program, it has an option to turn off your computer immediately without seeing this stupid message.

hope it help

  • 3 weeks later...

hm, I have same configuration:

MSI 848P, Intel Celeron 2,4, LG CD-RW 52/24/52 = ACPI is working

MSI 848P, Intel Celeron 2,4, LG CD-RW 52/32/52 = it's not working ACPI

maybe a firmware it's not good or something else?
