rjz Posted July 2, 2005 Posted July 2, 2005 I have a very good pc. Is there any usable emulator that will do ps2 games. PS2 has been out for a while so I would think this would be easier. I remember apple had a deal that let them play old ps1 games.
SiMoNsAyS Posted July 2, 2005 Posted July 2, 2005 no you can't play any commercial ps2 game on your pc (and i think it won't be possible in a looong time) btw, you can already use ePSXe to play psx games
Lost Soul Posted July 2, 2005 Posted July 2, 2005 actually i thinks its possible ill get back to you on it but im sure i found a way to do this a while back,
SiMoNsAyS Posted July 2, 2005 Posted July 2, 2005 currently the most advanced project in this side is pcsx2 (http://www.pcsx2.net/) and as you can see, there are screenshots of games running but this doesn't mean games are playable. some (graphical) demos will also be working.http://www.pcsx2.net/compatibility.php
lylo Posted July 2, 2005 Posted July 2, 2005 Final Fantasy X has made great progress with that emulator I thinkhttp://www.ngemu.com/index.php?action=post&id=1887
Lost Soul Posted July 2, 2005 Posted July 2, 2005 hmmm i see i guess your right maybe one day but that will probably be near the ps3 release
rjz Posted July 2, 2005 Author Posted July 2, 2005 I just want to play the new snake eater., It seems it won't come out on xbox.
lylo Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 PS1 emulation is near perfect Jeremy, and PS2 emulation is making great progress. It simply cannot be denied that as technology advances, so will people's knowledge of how to use it, get around it, and work it into whatever. There was one point where NES emulation was near impossible. There was once a point when SNES, Mega Drive, Playstation, N64 emulation was impossible. There was once a time when PS2, X-Box and GC emulation was impossible but its all coming along now. In maybe even a years time or so (It's quite likely), I think at least PS2 games will be completely playable on powerful enough systems.
SiMoNsAyS Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 just 1 thing... you forgot about dreamcast emulation http://www.chanka.org/the programmer is from my country; i've been playing soulcalibur and it was working nearly perfect
lylo Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 (edited) I have tried Dreamcast emulation before actually Chankast does actually seem to be quite stable, I managed to get Soul Calibur, Sonic Adventure and Metropolis Street Racer (God I LOVE that game!), working fine on my system....Well I say fine, although my system definitely wasn't powerful enough to have them running at least 50 fps which sucked, but yes they did seem to be fine, and I'd love to try them on a nice fast rig Edited July 4, 2005 by lylo

romanexy Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 Can anybody tell me if Prince of Persia: Sands of Time can be played on pcsx2?You will help me much if you provide me with any info.Thanx in advancereplies can be sent to romaos@freenet.am
SiMoNsAyS Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 simple, there's no commercial ps2 game running perfectly on a PC.best ps2 emulator is pcsx2 (http://www.pcsx2.net/compatibility.php) and as you can see only some games are running (mostly 2d).
lylo Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 (edited) If you dont keep up with www.ngemu.com you'll have missed this AWESOME update on pcsx2 http://www.ngemu.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=64105It shows Kingdom Hearts with NO graphical errors whatsoever, so in one sense the game can be fully playable. On the other hand though, the game would probably have played at 1-2 fps since the only way this can be done right now is on a Software Renderer (EXTREMELY slow!), but watch the video that the guy has made. Since his video capturing software works by only catching every single frame that is processed, it WILL look as if its playing at a full 60fps but don't be fooled.Despite this, it is one of the biggest and in my eyes one of the most significant advances in PS2 emulation, who knows, fully playable PS2 games on your PC may be here quicker than you think! One last thing, the guy responsible for that video, his rig is extremely top of the line as far as specification goes so I doubt any of us or most of us will be able to even match or better the speeds of KH lol.http://www.x-homepage.nl/ This is his homepage, go to 'My Computer' and check out his awesome beast Edited August 12, 2005 by lylo
