but isnt that ePower, new? Fritz said that "there's a new kid in town" and that must mean its new right? i compared it with the Antec TruePower SP-500, and the Tagan is pretty close.

OffTopic Question: PC 3200 Can Support PC 2100 Speeds Right?

Im currently running a pair of these (CAS 2.5 pc3200, just like the PQI you selected) at pc1600 speeds with no problems.

wow, i guess i didnt take a closer look at that, very good PSU, thanks i guess

ill add that to my cart and take out the Thermaltake =), its almost evenly

matched with the Antec TruePower 2.0 SP-500 =). thing i dont like about it is

that its 80 bucks =(, but thats my issue not e-Powers, thanks again, anyone

know anyothers? by the way i dont want to spend over $100 for a power supply.

(bah $7.00 shipping X_X) i guess the ram can wait

=(

Tagan is a high quality brand. The only thing odd I see is that it only has a single 12 V rail, yet it claims to provide 28 Amps. I thought it was against some regulation to go above 20 Amps on the 12 volt rail. The 12 Volt rail is typically where the generic power supplies skimp, and can cause problems in newer systems because that is where PCI-E graphics cards draw power from. It has a 24 pin ATX connector and comes with a 20 pin adapter so it will work on older boards like the one you currently have. Most new motherboards coming out now use a 24 pin power connector, so it makes sense to just buy one now rather than having to upgrade the PSU again when you get a new motherboard. It has S-ATA power connectors which is good...wouldnt make much sense to get one that doesnt have them. If you look closely at the pics you might notice the braided cables, which are a nice touch.

If the price of the Tagan is a little too high for you, take a look at the Seasonic S12-330. Seasonic is another high quality make. It has a little less power, but the dual 12 Volt rails combine for 22 Amps, which is still quite good by todays standards. It does have an active PFC (makes it a little more efficient) that the Tagan doesnt have. And like the Tagan it also has braided cables and comes with a 24pin to 20pin adapter.

Nah, i got more money yesterday, so the Tagan is not too high for me anymore. =), and i read alot of reviews on it, and all of them got a 5/5 or a 10/10. So i guess ill be getting the Tagan then =).

What I was talking about is it that you are trying to get a little cheaper this, a little cheaper that so that you can afford everything and get your computer working. This is what you shouldn't do. It's easy, you get what you pay for. It's better to buy a good PSU like the Tagan that you are talking about and then buy a good RAM, not the one that you are planning on buying right know. Buy RAMs that are made buy high quality known brands like Kingston, Crucial & Corsair. They provide high quality RAMs at very reasonable prices. I bought myself a pair Crucial HyperX PC3200 512MB RAMs for 100.99£. I don't know about you, but I say that's a very nice deal.

Well then im going for the Tagan for sure =D. right now i only want 512mb ram, then later i will get another of the same. =), its just im not really good on picking things out since im still learning about computers.

Hehe it turned from a PSU type topic to a Ram/Memory =O.

You really dont need anything crazy, im not sure why people think they do. Pick up an enlight. They are well made and we have been using them for YEARS, to be exact 6 and we have never had a problem with one.

You can for the most part tell how good a PSU is by its weight. They weigh good and they are MORE than you need. If you have a nice PSU like an enlight, with ur specs u could honestly have a 250 watt, If not less. HONESTLY ive been a tech for 3 years for this company and no one has a better reputation in the area.

well, im going to be upgrading little by little, thats why i want to have a really good PSU since i dont have to keep buying new ones everytime i upgrade that need alot of power.

sry if I got off-topic before, I just wanted you to realize that it's os much better to wait a bit more to buy high quality things instead of going for the cheapest things without the consideration for quality.

its just im not really good on picking things out since im still learning about computers.

That's why we are here. If you got any problem, just ask. Nobodys perfect, but we can help eachother out, right?

nah its ok that you went off topic, and yea i know i should wait, but do you think i should get the Tagan? i dont think my PSU will survive any longer cause now i keep getting BSOD errors. =/

Offtopic:what this SLi technology every1's talkin bout?some articles wud be gud 4 sure.i heard u can use 2 video cards by that technology is that true?

btw what's this pc 3200,pc 1600 r these the RAM speeds?(mite be a dumb question)

Posted (edited)

yes they are ram speeds

Offtopic, Offtopic: SLI is where you get 2 nVidia SLI supported cards like the 6600 Series, 6800 Series, and 7800 Series. and you have to get a mobo that has SLI mode with 2 PCI-Express slots. AMD compatible motherboards can only use SLI due to errors when installing the SLI on Intel Motherboards, well thats what i was told. There is also going to be something called CrossFire, but instead of 2 nVidia cards its 2 ATi cards.

EDIT1: is there anything i should keep in mind after i buy the Tagan and install it? After all, this is my first time upgrading something =).

Offtopic: someone told me that their friend had PC 2700 ram on their computer, and bought a PC 3200, when he put in that ram, it didnt work at all. is there something wrong with the mobo or ram or something? but then again my mobo supports only PC 2100 and i have PC 2700 ram that came with my computer. and i shouldnt have a problem though if i have the corsair 512 PC 3200 in one slot and the 256mb PC 2700 in the other slot right?

You should always try to stick with the same brand and the same speeds when buying RAMs, that way you ensure yourself that you are getting maximum performance out of your sticks.

Could BSOD errors be caused by the PSU?

You're **** straight it could be. It depends on what the BSOD says, but sure. If you're PSU is starting to malfunction and gives the CPU lesser Vcore then it's supposed to, Windows sees this as a Hardware change that it cannot handle and gives you an BSOD. That's just an example. It could just aswell be the RAM or GPU that is experiencing the problem. You get the picture.

hmm yea, maybe the power is failing because ever since i put in another HD, i kept getting bsod errors when i try to run Counter-Strike 1.6. probably because theres not enough power or something in the PSU. but it happens about 5-10 times each day, it doesnt happen everytime i start the game.

This Crucial 512mb PC 2700 any good? because my ram that i have right now is PC 2700

when i looked at my ram stick, there was no sticker on it or any marking that labeled what brand it is, it only said 256mb, how do i check what brand it is? is there a program out there that can?
