On bouth tried quick registery searching with no result.

At least one trick would be to replace iexplore.exe with a "shortcutprogram" that would launch firefox.exe. This would be a general solution for all our problems. (and still iexplore would be accessable by running the renamed original iexplore.exe

The opening of IE from MSN Messenger is hardwired into the code of MSN. You could try your solution and let us know how it goes.

and also stuffplug (plugin for messenger plus)

stuffplug requires a validation key when installing, you can get this from their website.

then just configure stuffplug to use your default browser, which of course is firefox.

Haha, Miranda... hahah. The buggiest piece of software I've ever used. And I am talking about the v0.4 release that took them over a year to develop. Very lite yes, but I like things to actually work. But that's just me.

miranda is a really buggy prog. it's something you could use if you're forced to.

gaim is the best alternative i've found (including the resource-hungry trillian) but it's missing a couple of things like winks, deluxe display pictures and mp3 title display. maybe on a couple of months...

I've used Miranda now for over 3 months, and it's only crashed once. (that's when I was trying to get IEView working)

It's only buggy if you use experimental plugins, like IEView. I've got several other plugins working just fine and it runs like a bat out of hell. (The only thing that doesn't really work quite right is file transfers... they sometimes cause the whole program to lag). For me, using only 2MB of RAM is very nice...not to mention you can configure it to your liking until you're blue in the face.

Oh... and Trillian is definately turning to bloat... just like MSN 7.

personally now i'm looking for gaim plugins -i've read on the requests section of the official page that they're not going to implement some bloat stuff from msn7 like winks- so if you know about a page with plugins that add new msn7 functionalities, please post it

Hmm, the worst of them is indeed MSN (bloat-wise). It is an extremely functional and stable IM to use of course, but RAM wise, ugh. Trillian uses a fair bit of RAM as well, though with no contact windows open and it minimized, it is just under 2 MBs. Otherwise, normal activity consumes almost 10 MBs. Miranda is as lite as I like programs to be, but the bugginess is insane. I tried file transfers and tabsrmm plugin and the whole thing just caved in on itself.

I even tried AMSN a few months back and as similar to MSN as it was, it was beta and didn't offer a whole lot of functionality. Their site has a "closed down" sign on it too and they are in danger of being put 6 feet under so I don't expect anything else from them.
