Spoo51
Very interesting problem here;Every time I shut my computer down, it turns itself back on. Sometimes within 30 seconds, sometimes 30 minutes. It's a brand new computer with a fresh WinXP install, so I don't think it's virus related. But I really don't understand how it can just *magically* turns itself back on. I mean, when it's off, it's off..... right?Athlon64 3000MSI K8N Neo4 MoBo

gotdilbert
See what happens if you leave the ethernet cable out.
Spoo51
I've tried all of that. The only thing I've been able to do is after I shut down, turn the power switch off then on. But really, what could be causing that? I just want to make sure this isn't going to damage my hardware over time. Y'know, brand new is nice... Spoo51
Well, first-off it's brand new. It's a MSI K8N Neo4. I've run the automatic update for the drivers, it says that I've got the newest.

Mekrel
its the PSU
MSNwar
Yep, the PSU. The cable is probally shorting out. Not all that common with new PCs, but thats usually the cause, considering what you have done already.Examine the cable for nicks and where it might come into contact with sharp metal. If it looks good try swapping it out with another PSU.
