Rick Posted November 20, 2002 Posted November 20, 2002 How do I get rid of this annoying bit of info that pops up on the Win logon screen? I don't even have MSN Messenger installed...I used Triallian.Rick
HashDump Posted November 20, 2002 Posted November 20, 2002 Rick,I'm afraid you'd have to diasble Windows Messenger, not to be confused with MSN Messenger. Windows Messenger is a builtin app for Windows XP. w00t
LongHorn Posted November 20, 2002 Posted November 20, 2002 Download and open MSN Messenger 5:While downloading, Ctrl+Alt+Delete End the msgr process or whatever it is.Goto start, run, and paste in:RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.RemoveThen install MSN Messenger 5....Have fun, no Windows Messenger
Doggie Posted November 21, 2002 Posted November 21, 2002 ya can get rid of that stuff without uninstallin anything.. just gotta remember it.. stay tuned folks
Doggie Posted November 21, 2002 Posted November 21, 2002 ok.. here we go.. open up regeditStart > Run > regedit and click OKtravel to the reg key called "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail"and those keys will be the user names that are listed as users eg user@hotmail.com .. simply remove the emails.. gets rid of junk and best of all.. it removes the unread email and doesn't affect anything else
