Swimming_Bird Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 Anyone know of some other program with a nicer gui to edit the registry, the main thing i would love is an address bar. I often times know where i need to look but have to manually navigate there.
Afterdawn Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 You're looking for this program:http://www.regxplor.com/Free, integrates into Explorer and you have an address-bar!
horsecharles Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 regexplore is nice--i used for a long time until i ran into: Vilma-- it doesn't have an address bar, but what i like is that when you wade through it, your previously-navigated folders are at the top of each level: cuts down on a lot of scrolling through hundreds of entries....And, has a history pane of all previous changes, each of which can be undone with a click-- this is all default-done transparently, without any user input or settings adjustments needed. It also has bookmark / favorite functions.Delete, edit, replace all you want w/o having to manually export/backup anything-- and just undo with one click.I just realized i should change it to default instead of regedit in spybot, etc.
horsecharles Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 good luck...one hint: it opens to last key worked on-- keep double-clicking the topmost line/ folder with the backslash to go up the levels back to main(same way as navigating the folders in Dos Editor ......
jaclaz Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 The one I like the most is Registrar.http://www.resplendence.com/mainThere are two version, Shareware and Freeware.Even the freeware one, Registrar Lite, has this great feature of searching the registry and LISTING results.http://www.resplendence.com/reglitejaclaz
Jeremy Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 I tired Reg Explorer and expanding a really long section in tree view caused explorer.exe to crash. Even with the additional library files. Buggy POS.I like the looks of Registrar Lite. Though, since Regexplorer, looks can't be the only thing that cause me to switch. I'd like an address bar.
horsecharles Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Maybe it's an XP bug or the program's not been sufficiently upgraded to work w/ XP--I don't use Reg Explorer anymore, but for years never had a problem---
