prathapml Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 Nope, "-default" does nothing at all. (tested just now)
CypherBit Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 I think there was some confusion regarding http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/profile
prathapml Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 I think there was some confusion regarding http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/profileAnd that page confirms the thought that "-default" or "-defaultprofile" simply uses the profile created by default (in %appdata%).
durex Posted January 13, 2005 Author Posted January 13, 2005 The syntax I was referring to is:"C:\program files\mozilla firefox\firefox.exe" -profile defaults\profile"This is supposed to load the defaults\profile folder...::Update::Found more info here. and by the way the method described in that link above with the 'portable' mozilla apps, works great.
prathapml Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 I couldve sworn there was a thread of programs that you could say, toss on a usb key and use on any pc; as opposed to having to re-install the program. Now back on topic, is tip21 in this page what you were referring to?
durex Posted January 13, 2005 Author Posted January 13, 2005 Thanks pra-That def helps, but I thought there was an actual seperate topic on this... maybe not.
prathapml Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 Wow!firefox.exe -profile defaults\profileThat works. So now just run it with that switch, configure/install-extensions, and SFX it up for extraction to new install!
durex Posted January 14, 2005 Author Posted January 14, 2005 another little tidbit Ive found, it doesnt have to be that particular syntax either... lets say you wanted to leave the default profile intact, you could run firefox using -profile <whatever folder> and it will install and use that one.
sven Posted January 14, 2005 Posted January 14, 2005 oooo, firefox usb, this will be perfect running from my ipod to bypass stuff hehe, gamehead showed me
