I'm using a WinRAR SFX for extracting metapad to %ProgramFiles%\Metapad, afterwards I run this .inf File:

[Version]Signature=$Windows NT$

[DefaultInstall]

[Txtfile]

HKCR,"txtfile\shell"

[Otherfiles]

,69,64,61,20,43,6f,6e,73,6f,6c,65,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00

,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00

[strangeStuff]

Sorry guys slow to reply here kinda think it was wfp problem I had?

Heres the reg file for Filters for Metapad I have been using:

; This is an example of how to customize the filter in metapad's Open dialog.

; Make sure the syntax of the string below is absolutely correct (or else the

; behaviour is undefined). New drop down entries consist of two sub strings.

; The first is a description and the second is the actual filter. All

; substrings must be separated by the | symbol (which cannot be used in a

; description). The order here is the order they appear in the list. For

; example to have just one setting you would use the string:

; "FileFilter" = "Crap files|*.CRP;*.CRAP".

;

; NB: The filter string below is the one metapad uses by default.

"FileFilter" = "All File Types|*.txt;*.htm;*.html;*.c;*.cpp;*.h;*.java|Text Files (*.txt)|*.txt|HTML (*.html; *.htm)|*.html;*.htm|Source Code (*.c; *.cpp; *.h; *.java)|*.c;*.cpp;*.h;*.java|All Files (*.*)|*.*"

Also what do these filters do anyhow?

Thanks.
