Ghost 9 - Nice

Being a fan of PowerQuest DriveImage 7, I was eager to see how Ghost 9 was, as symantec bought powerquest and integrated the drive image technology into Ghost.

Well its very much the same, with a few bells and whistles.. The recovery mode, ala Symantec Recovery CD based on WinPE, I was suprised to find the following drivers pre-built onto the CD.

which is a big improvement over DriveImage's pathetic attempt.

I added my own and re-created the Ghost 9 ISO.. works a treat, (which was for the Highpoint RocketRaid 1542, which is based on the 374 Chipset)... The hpt3xxx one bundled with Ghost, caused problems, so I thought I use the latest one.

Things have changed.

There is a big problem with Ghost 9.0 with you have a Highpoint 374 controller.. as the hpt3xxx.sys driver built into Ghost 9.0

1. does not work with the 374

2. makes the 374 drivers (pushing F6 at start).. causes Ghost 9.0 not to start properly and you get a message about the engine not being initialised

So I fixed it by doing the following

1. I remove every trace of the hpt3xx.sys, hpt3xx.inf from the filesystem, rebuilt the ISO and tested it... wow it works.. Part 2 is to integrate the 374 drivers into it, now that nasty hpt3xx.sys has gone.

Please don't post such INCREDIBLY LARGE amounts of text in a post. If you have to post it, then either use the [code ] tags (for smaller amounts of text) or attach it as a zipped file. But always its better to host the same file elsewhere and link to it instead, so we can download it and view it. Currently, the post is too large for anyone to be able to sanely look at it. Will you please come back and edit the post to remove the txtsetup.sif contents and attach it instead? If you don't do so quickly, a moderator might need to come along and do it.

yes just copy ghost32.exe to your distro, and edit your menu to include it.

If you mean VMWare SCSI disks? Just download and install the VMware scsi drivers into PE.
